Combining Different <strong>Configuration</strong> SchemesActive Serial &JTAGFor devices that support AS configuration (e.g., Stratix II or Cycloneseries devices), you can combine the AS configuration scheme with JTAGbasedconfiguration (see Figure 9–5). This setup uses two 10-pindownload cable headers on the board. One download cable is used inJTAG mode to configure the Stratix II or Cyclone series FPGA directly viathe JTAG interface. The other download cable is used in AS mode toprogram the serial configuration device in-system via the ASprogramming interface. The MSEL pins should be set to select the ASconfiguration mode. If you try configuring the device using both schemessimultaneously, JTAG configuration takes precedence and ASconfiguration will be terminated.Figure 9–5.
