Program Trace MacrocellYou can also configure the PTM to trace:• Cycle count between traced waypoints.• Global system timestamps.• Target addresses for taken direct branches.12.3.3 Filtering and triggering resourcesYou can filter the PTM trace such as configuring it to trace only in certain address ranges. Morecomplicated logic analyzer style filtering options are also available.The PTM can also generate a trigger that is a signal to the trace capture device to stop capturingtrace.12.3.4 FIFOThe trace generated by the PTM is in a highly-compressed form. The trace compression causesthe FIFO enable bursts to be flattened out. When the FIFO becomes full, the FIFO signals anoverflow. The trace generation logic does not generate any new trace until the FIFO hasemptied. Program Trace Macrocell12.4 ResetThe resets for the processor and the PTM are usually separate to enable tracing through aprocessor reset. If the PTM is reset, tracing stops until the PTM is reprogrammed andre-enabled.
