Resumo<br />

O projecto Desafios <strong>em</strong> Português, concebi<strong>do</strong> por <strong>do</strong>is <strong>do</strong>centes da Escola Secundária Padre Benjamim<br />

Salga<strong>do</strong> com o intuito <strong>de</strong> elevar os níveis <strong>de</strong> literacia <strong>do</strong>s alunos, consiste na organização, divulgação,<br />

incentivo e apoio à participação <strong>do</strong>s jovens <strong>em</strong> concursos <strong>de</strong> língua e literatura portuguesa, a nível<br />

<strong>de</strong> escola, ou <strong>de</strong> âmbito regional, nacional e internacional. Estes <strong>de</strong>safios, lança<strong>do</strong>s a alunos e até a<br />

ex-alunos da escola, levam-nos a ler e escrever mais assiduamente, <strong>de</strong>spertan<strong>do</strong> neles o gosto da<br />

<strong>leitura</strong> e da escrita.<br />

O recurso às TIC t<strong>em</strong> contribuí<strong>do</strong> <strong>de</strong>cisivamente para o entusiasmo e elevada participação <strong>do</strong>s<br />

estudantes. O projecto t<strong>em</strong> uma página <strong>de</strong> divulgação na plataforma Moodle da escola, e, para<br />

certas iniciativas, criaram-se blogues educativos, o que, no caso <strong>do</strong> Concurso Nacional <strong>de</strong> Leitura,<br />

funcionou como incentivo à <strong>leitura</strong> das obras a concurso e como orientação e apoio <strong>do</strong>s alunos. Este<br />

blogue (www.cnlespbs.wordpress.com), <strong>em</strong> que os jovens redigiam comentários à medida que iam<br />

len<strong>do</strong> os livros, permitiu <strong>de</strong>senvolver, para além das competências <strong>de</strong> língua materna, as <strong>de</strong> reflexão<br />

e <strong>de</strong> espírito crítico, e até o senti<strong>do</strong> <strong>de</strong> entreajuda, funcionan<strong>do</strong> como espaço <strong>de</strong> intercâmbio,<br />

colaboração e <strong>de</strong>bate.<br />

Abstract<br />

The project Desafios <strong>em</strong> Português was conceived by two teachers from School Padre Benjamim<br />

Salga<strong>do</strong> with the aim of increasing stu<strong>de</strong>nts’ literacy levels. It consists in the organization, diffusion,<br />

incentive and support to the youngsters’ participation in Portuguese language and literature contests,<br />

either at a school level or at a regional, national and international level. These challenges, issued to<br />

pupils and even to ex-pupils from school, lead th<strong>em</strong> to read and write more frequently, rousing their<br />

pleasure of reading and writing.<br />

The use of the new technologies has <strong>de</strong>cisively contributed to the stu<strong>de</strong>nts’ enthusiasm and high<br />

participation. The project has a webpage at the school’s Moodle platform and, for some initiatives,<br />

educational blogs were created. In what concerns the National Reading Contest, the blog<br />

(www.cnlespbs.wordpress.com) motivated the stu<strong>de</strong>nts to read the books and provi<strong>de</strong>d th<strong>em</strong><br />

guidance and support. There, the youngsters wrote comments as they were reading the books. This<br />

allowed th<strong>em</strong> to <strong>de</strong>velop, besi<strong>de</strong>s their mother tongue skills, those of reflection, critical sense, and<br />

even mutual help. Thus the blog acted as an interchange, cooperation and discussion place.<br />
