Results I: The personal and professional trajectories of storytellers for children in Madrid<br />

Table 1 provi<strong>de</strong>s a <strong>de</strong>scriptive summary of each narrator, showing their professional<br />

background, the current spectrum of their storytelling work and the personal-professional<br />

connections that exist between th<strong>em</strong>.<br />

several years. Became an illustrator of<br />

children’s books and educational materials,<br />

later also an author. Well known author for<br />

her illustration techniques.<br />

Esther Trained and worked as an occupational<br />

therapist. Studied illustration through<br />

workshops and became a published<br />

illustrator and author of children’s literature.<br />

Currently owner, with other partners, of a<br />

children’s bookstore.<br />

Worked in a family owned factory in<br />

Argentina that eventually closed. Self-trained<br />

puppeteers. Became full time street and<br />

travelling artists. Moved to Spain some years<br />

José Fontana Trained as a puppeteer through workshops in<br />

Argentina. Used street-puppet performances<br />

as a means of support during several years<br />

of boh<strong>em</strong>ian travel. Trained as a teacher,<br />

worked in rural schools. Became a puppeteer<br />

in a formal company with international tours<br />

and arrived in Europe.<br />

Rafael Or<strong>do</strong>ñez Unknown aca<strong>de</strong>mic background. Works as a<br />

state <strong>em</strong>ployee in a clerical position. Trained<br />

as a storyteller through workshops. Is also a<br />

published author of children’s literature.<br />
