An introduction to essay-writing technique, with intensive work on structuring, formulating and
defending an argument and appropriate use of language. The course will be conducted as a
workshop: essays will be re-written (i.e. improved) through several drafts. Students must
already have taken GLP1 and/or a practical grammar course.

This course introduces students to various genres of academic texts. Through sample material
the students will get to know basic structures and stylistic means and will have a go at writing
academic texts. They are encouraged to bring in their own projects for peer review.In order to
be allowed to register students should have successfully passed the Quick Placement test.

This course starts off where "Academic Writing 1" left. We will look at more complex aspects of
academic writing, such as developing ideas, assessing and evaluating opinions,editing, etc.
Students will be asked to present their own writing for peer review and should come ready with
term paper projects from their major/minor subjects.
