This integrated skills-course uses Progress to Proficiency and familiarizes the students with
exam techniques which are required for the English C1 exam. It relies heavily on class
participation and motivated self-study. Students need to have passed the B2 English exam or
GLP3 successfully or scored 80 points or more in the C-Test to be able to register.

An introduction to essay-writing technique, with intensive work on structuring, formulating and
defending an argument and appropriate use of language. The course will be conducted as a
workshop: essays will be re-written (i.e. improved) through several drafts. Students must
already have taken GLP1 and/or a practical grammar course.

This course introduces students to various genres of academic texts. Through sample material
the students will get to know basic structures and stylistic means and will have a go at writing
academic texts. They are encouraged to bring in their own projects for peer review.In order to
be allowed to register students should have successfully passed the Quick Placement test.
