95, of Colonial Heights died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Rosella Elizabeth Shular and Charlie Franklin Sutphin; husband, Claude Wilton
Gunn; daughter, Carolyn E. Gunn, and son, Hugh J. Gunn; sisters, Myrtle Harrison,
Violet Shields, Annie Meeks, Mary Jane Travis, Virginia Wicks; brothers, Robert Sutphin,
C.W. Sutphin and Raymond Sutphin. Mrs. Gunn was a member of Highland United
Methodist Church. Survivors include seven sons, Wade W. Gunn and wife, Adelle, of
Stephens City, Va., Leonard F. Gunn and wife, Deana, of Colonial Heights, Kenneth C.
Gunn and wife, Abigail, of Madison, N.C., Harold R. Gunn and wife, Alice, of Varina,
Robert L Gunn and wife, Phyllis,of Colonial Heights, William (John) Gunn and wife,
Janice, of Colonial Heights and Douglas (Mac) Gunn and wife, Linda, of Dinwiddie; two
daughters, Bettie G. Phillips of Chesapeake, Va., and Patricia (Diane) Baker of Highland
Springs; a brother William Earl Sutphin of Ga.; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren
and one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin
Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Keith Ritchie
officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to

Thursday, September 18, 2003 - Bessie Gunn, 71, of Ridgely, Tennessee, died Friday, Sept.
12, 2003 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Services were Wednesday at Ridgely
Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Sanders officiating. Burial was in Citizen
Cemetery in Tiptonville. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

resident of Humphreys County, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in
Nashville. She was a retired packer for Acme Boot Co. and attended at First Baptist
