funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Sutherland Brown Funerl Home with<br />

burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Surviving are a niece and a nephew. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a<br />

member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and of the Daughters of the Confederacy.<br />

Susie <strong>Gunn</strong> Scroggs<br />

widow of the late Rev. J. R. Scroggs, of the western North Carolina conference, died Monday<br />

afternoon, Nov 1, 1931 at 3 o'clock at Her home in Asheville. Mrs. Scroggs, who was Miss<br />

Susie <strong>Gunn</strong> before marriage will be well remembered in this county. Her husband. Rev. J.<br />

R. Scroggs at one time held a charge in the Statesville district. Mrs. Scroggs is survived by<br />

two daughters and one son, .Miss Stella Scroggs, Mrs. Marie Fortune .and Mr. Clarence<br />

Scroggs. also sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mollie Fraley, of this county, Mrs. Laura Hayes,<br />

of Manisquan, Va., and M L. <strong>Gunn</strong>. of Greenville S. C., Mr. John <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Little Rock, Ark.<br />

The remains were taken to Shelby, NC where the funeral and interment were held.<br />

Susie Loy (Jeffries) <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

of Mansfield,Georgia passed away July 18, 2012, at the age of 92. She loved gardening,<br />

traveling and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband,<br />

Grady <strong>Gunn</strong>; parents, Robert Lee and Lenora (Digby) Jeffries. Survivors include her<br />

children and their spouses, Grace Edge of Covington, Shirley and Ken Claypool of Opp, AL,<br />

James and Jean <strong>Gunn</strong> of Greensboro, June Crenshaw of Mansfield, Evelyn and Ronnie Hale<br />

of Mansfield, David <strong>Gunn</strong> of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 greatgreat-grandchildren;<br />

sister, Mary Dial of Covington; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and<br />

special caregiver, Debra Spillers. Funeral Services for Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> will be held Saturday,<br />

July 21, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access<br />

Road, in Covington, with Pastor Danny Sorrells officiating, and interment following in<br />

Carmel Cemetery, in Mansfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday,<br />

July 20, from 5:00-8:00 PM.<br />

Susie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>.-Susie C., wife of Lucien E. <strong>Gunn</strong>, died at their home in Elkhart, Ind., on Jan. 6, 1934;<br />

aged 73 y. 9 m. 24 d. Ailing for several months, she was stricken with paralysis on Dec. 14<br />

and had been confined to the bed since that time. She and her husband moved to Elkhart 14<br />

years ago from a farm where they had lived since 1893. Previously they had lived near<br />

Edwardsburg, Mich., and Wakarusa, Ind.,-in the last locality nine years. Their marriage<br />

took place at Edwardsburg on June 19, 1881. There are no children. She was a member of<br />

the Bethel Evangelical Church at Elkhart, having been a Christian for many years. Funeral<br />

services were held Jan. 8, with a short service at the home conducted by G. W. Shaneyfelt,<br />

and further services at the Olive Mennonite Church,conducted by D. A. Yoder and C. A.<br />

Shank. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.<br />
