Florine Ragland <strong>Gunn</strong>, 83, of 200 Childs Avenue, South Boston died January 20 at<br />

Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born in<br />

Halifax County on August 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Willie Ragland and Lillie A.<br />

Ragland and was married to the late George <strong>Gunn</strong>. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist<br />

Church. Her survivors include two sons, George <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr. of Alexandria and Gregory<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Dinwiddie; two daughters, Suzette Williams of Baltimore, Md. and Patricia<br />

Perkins of Dinwiddie; one sister, Izetta Miller of Gretna; two brothers, David Ragland of<br />

South Boston and Leslie Ragland of Martinsville; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.<br />

A funeral service for Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> will be held tomorrow, January 24 at 2<br />

p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. James M. Crowder officiating. Burial<br />

will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jeffress Funeral<br />

Home Chapel this evening, January 23, from 6:00 until 8:00. B<br />

G. Burton <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

WOLFEBORO, NH - G. Burton <strong>Gunn</strong>, 69, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the Hyder<br />

Family Hospice House in Dover. He was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Goffstown, the son of<br />

George and the late Barbara <strong>Gunn</strong> of Punta Gorda, Fla., and brother of Susan Spilane of<br />

Burlington, Vt. He resided in <strong>New</strong> Hampshire for most of his life, the last seven years in<br />

Wolfeboro. Burt was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived<br />

by his wife, Cyndy; two sons, Steven of Manchester and Chris and his wife, Laura, of<br />

Cody, Wyo.; two daughters, Toni <strong>Gunn</strong> of Belford, N.J., and Karen <strong>Gunn</strong> of Manchester;<br />

two stepsons, Bill Pollini of Wolfeboro and Todd Pollini and his wife, Celeste, of Melvin<br />

Village; and 10 grandchildren. Calling hours will not be held. Services will be held at the<br />

convenience of the family. The Cremation Society of <strong>New</strong> Hampshire is in charge of<br />

arrangements.<br />

Gay Frances <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

was born June 16, 1950 in Pittsylvania County, Ringgold, VA to the late Deacon and<br />

Deaconess Clyde M. and Louise C. <strong>Gunn</strong>. Gay graduated from Southside High School in<br />

1968. As a family trend setter and the first family member to attend college, she attended<br />

Virginia State University. She later attended SUNY in White Plains, NY where she met and<br />

married Walter C. Sutton. To this union a daughter, Shaunda Lenee was born. In<br />

continuing her education she also attended the Westchester Business Institute where she<br />

met and later married Johnnie E. Lucas. To this union a son, John Travis was born. Gay<br />

was baptized at age 12 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ringgold, VA. After residing in<br />

White Plains, NY (18 years), and being a member of the First Baptist Church,<br />

Mamaroneck, NY she moved to Dayton, NJ and joined the Clear View Baptist Church,<br />

<strong>New</strong>ark NJ. She was an active member of the Senior Nurses Unit, Sunday School and the<br />

Inspirational Choir. She participated faithfully until her health began to decline. Gay<br />

retired from a thirty year career with AT&T as a Manager, Instructor and Course<br />

Developer. Her career afforded her many statewide travel opportunities. Her window of<br />

career opportunities extended to The Princeton Radiology Group as a Billing Associate and<br />

to The Atlantic Express Transportation Co. as a Transportation Specialist. Her zest for life
