MT. HOPE, KS - <strong>Gunn</strong>, Raymond E., 63, G&W Mfg. owner, passed away Friday, June 11,<br />

2010. Rosary, 5 p.m., Sunday, June 13; Funeral Mass, 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 14, both at<br />

St. Joseph Catholic Church-Ost. Burial will follow at 6 p.m. MDST, Syracuse Cemetery,<br />

Syracuse, KS. Preceded in death by father, Joel D. <strong>Gunn</strong>. Survivors: wife, Cindy; son, Levi<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>; mother, Jessie Mae <strong>Gunn</strong>; sisters, Janet <strong>Gunn</strong> (Rex), all of Denver, Sylvia Mierau<br />

(Tim ) of Monroe, WA; brother, Joel <strong>Gunn</strong> (Belinda) of Greensboro, NC; 23 nieces and<br />

nephews; 6 great-nieces and many, many friends. Memorials established with Harry Hynes<br />

Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and St. Joseph Catholic School-Ost,<br />

Raymond E. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Cannelton, Ind. Raymond E. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 86, passed away at his home Sunday September 9, 2012.<br />

He was born July 8, 1926, in Neoga, Ill., son of the late Wyatt and Barbara (Neyenhaus)<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>. Also preceding him in death was a grandson Joshua; and a brother Floyd <strong>Gunn</strong>.<br />

A 1944 graduate of Cannelton High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII.<br />

Ray was united in marriage on August 16, 1951, to Ruth M. Collignon, who survives. Along<br />

with his brothers, he owned and operated <strong>Gunn</strong>'s Conoco and Standard stations then later<br />

owned Downtown Shell with his wife, Ruth. He also was a truck driver for Cantex Industries<br />

and worked for CanClay as a machinist until his retirement in 1987. Ray enjoyed spending<br />

time with family and friends, helping others, spending time in his workshop, riding<br />

motorcycles and playing cards. He was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ<br />

and helped with many projects there. Ray was also a member of SPEBSQSA barbershop<br />

chorus and quartets. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth; daughters, Debbie Stemler<br />

(Kerry), of Sellersburg, Ind., and Becky Biever (Steve), of Evansville; son, Bill <strong>Gunn</strong> (Kim),<br />

of Tell City; brother, Clifford <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Tell City; seven grandchildren, Mandy Archibald<br />

(Jacob), Abbey Stemler, Nick Biever (Rene'), Dustin Biever (Kelsey), Brooke McWhirter<br />

(Kasey), Kara <strong>Gunn</strong> and Trent <strong>Gunn</strong>; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kaitlyn<br />

McWhirter, Wyatt and Bryce Biever, Emery and Barrett Archibald and Raelynn and Kaley<br />

Biever; extended family, Pat and Karen Richard, Shane and Jean Muir, and Wayne and<br />

Lynne Shick.<br />

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. CDT Friday, September 14, 2012 at Saint John's United<br />

Church of Christ in Cannelton, with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Prior to the service,<br />

military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939 and the Harry<br />

G. Meyers American Legion Post #142. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on<br />

Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at<br />

the church.<br />
