<strong>Gunn</strong>, Helen (nee LaPorta), age 67, beloved wife of Cleave, loving mother of Donald,<br />

Grover, William and Richard <strong>Gunn</strong>, loving grandmother and great-grandmother of many,<br />

fond sister of Frank LaPorta, Pauline Hobson and the late William LaPorta. Visitation<br />

Sunday, 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Monday, 10 a.m., atLawn Funeral Home, 7909 State<br />

Helen <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs.(Helen Margaret) <strong>Gunn</strong> who died<br />

August 9, 1975 after a lengthy illness. Service was at Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank<br />

Bozart officiating. Honorary pallbearers were James Krejci, Louie Krejci, Ed Hesco,<br />

Gaylord Anderson, Joe Jones, and Bob Scott. Casket bearers were Joe Leimser, Dale<br />

Leimser, Louie Landkamer, Donald E. Johnson and Speck Black. Burial was in the Lusk<br />

Cemetery. Helen Margaret Ring was born November 2, 1904, at Story, Neb., the daughter<br />

of August L. and Alice Ring. She was educated in Sioux County rural schools and Harrison<br />

High School from which she graduated in 1922. Later she attended Chadron State College<br />

and Springfield, S. D. Normal College. She taught several years in rural schools in<br />

Nebraska and Wyoming prior to her marriage to Alex <strong>Gunn</strong> in 1928. Mr. and Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

lived at Scotland, S.D. until March 1929 and on a ranch at Story, Nebr. for two years prior<br />

to moving to the ranch north of Hat Creek in 1932, where they were still residing at the<br />

time of Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong>s death. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> is<br />

survived by her widower Alex, a son Dale of Hat Creek, a daughter Kathleen Turpin of<br />

Tucson, Ariz., six granddaughters Rhonda Hart of Gordon, Nebr., Shelly, Tammy, Carmen<br />

and Linda <strong>Gunn</strong> all of Hat Creek. Shannon Turpin of Tucson and a grandson Craig<br />

Turpin also of Tucson and a grandson, Craig Turpin also of Tucson, a great grandson and<br />

many nieces and nephews<br />

Helen Montgomery <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

87, a longtime resident of the Washington, D. C., area and the author of a novel,<br />

"Colonel's Lady," died of a heart ailment May 22 1987, at Sibley Memorial Hospital. She<br />

lived in Washington. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She graduated from<br />

Cornell College in Iowa. She moved to the Washington area in the early 1940s. She married<br />

Damon M. <strong>Gunn</strong>, an Army officer who retired as a colonel, and accompanied him on<br />

various military assignments. Her husband died in 1983. She was a member of St. David's<br />

Episcopal Church in Washington. Survivors include one son, Robert, of Northbrook, Ill.,<br />

and five grandchildren<br />

Survived by her loving children, Michael R. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Patricia K. Sutton; grandchildren,<br />

Justin <strong>Gunn</strong>, Karena <strong>Gunn</strong>, Clayton <strong>Gunn</strong>, Melanie M. Carptenter and Natalie D. Burton;
