Graveside services will be held today at 3 pm at Bethesda Cemetery, Rt 2, Union Point Ga.<br />

She was a native of Greene County, was a retired merchant, a member of the First Baptist<br />

Church of Crawfordville and the WMU. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. J. R. Morgan of<br />

Atlanta, and one brothe C. A. Doster, Atlanta. The family will be at the home of her nephew,<br />

R. D. <strong>New</strong>some in Untion Point. Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point.<br />

Sarah Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Sarah <strong>Gunn</strong>, 81 Memorial services for Sarah Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong>, 81, of Escondido, Calif. were<br />

held May 2 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif. Ms. <strong>Gunn</strong> died Feb. 9.<br />

2000. Born in Winnfield, La. Ms. <strong>Gunn</strong> was the eldest of nine children, descendents of Mr.<br />

and Mrs. Neil F. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Jonesboro. She attended Jonesboro-Hodge High School and was<br />

one of the first groups of WACS in World War II. Sarah was a disabled veteran and was<br />

buried with honors. She was loved and will be deeply missed by family members, relatives<br />

and friends. She is survived by her sister, Alice C. Carman and her brother-in-law Jesse L.<br />

Carman of Romona, Calif; brother, Neil F. <strong>Gunn</strong> and her sister-in-law Joanne of Wellington,<br />

Nevada; four nieces; two nephews, two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.<br />

Sally Dunbar <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Sally Dunbar <strong>Gunn</strong>, wife of W. A. <strong>Gunn</strong>, died at the home of her son, Andrew E. <strong>Gunn</strong>, on<br />

the Mount Cross Road, this morning at 3:15 after a decline in health for the past several<br />

years. Her condition had gradually worsened for the past 18 months. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 81, was a<br />

native of Pittsylvania County, where she was born Jan. 8, 1883, a daughter of the late Elisha<br />

Keen Dunbar and Mrs. Martha Shumate Dunbar. Her entire life had been spent in the<br />

county and, since 1925, she had made her home on the Mount Cross Rd. For the past week<br />

she had been staying in the home of her son. Besides her husband, she is survived by three<br />

daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hubbard Harmon of Alexandria, Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Ridgeway<br />

and Mrs. Katherine Hearp of the Mount Cross Road; and two sons, Allen <strong>Gunn</strong> of San<br />

Francisco, Calif., and Andrew E. <strong>Gunn</strong> of the Mount Cross Road. She also leaves one sister,<br />

Mrs. Annie Hill of Martinsville; one brother, John Dunbar of Nathalie; 15 grandchildren<br />

and 23 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Swicegood<br />

Funeral Home, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o"clock by the Rev. W. Ernest Hogge and the Rev.<br />

Fred H. Troll. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.The remains are at the<br />

funeral home, and the family is at the home of her son, Andrew E. <strong>Gunn</strong> on the Mount Cross<br />

Rd. Sallie Willie Dunbar <strong>Gunn</strong> b- 1-8-1883 d 8-28-1964 m 8-24-1902 to William Allen <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Sarah Genette Pickett <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

79, of Westfield, Pennsylvania, widow of Anson <strong>Gunn</strong>, died at the home of her son, Orrin<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> Friday morning, Jan. 23, 1942, after a three months illness. In November she fell and<br />

broke her shoulder and since that time had been confined in bed. She was born at<br />

Troupsburg, NY, Apr. 4, 1862. Survivors are two sons, Orrin <strong>Gunn</strong> and Otto <strong>Gunn</strong>, both of<br />

Westfield and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Thomas of Westfield, R.D. and Mrs. Laura George of<br />

Knoxville, PA. The funeral was held at the Simmons funeral home Monday at 2 pm. Burial<br />

was in Champlin Cemetery.<br />
