Graveside services will be held today at 3 pm at Bethesda Cemetery, Rt 2, Union Point Ga.
She was a native of Greene County, was a retired merchant, a member of the First Baptist
Church of Crawfordville and the WMU. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. J. R. Morgan of
Atlanta, and one brothe C. A. Doster, Atlanta. The family will be at the home of her nephew,
R. D. Newsome in Untion Point. Callaway Funeral Home, Union Point.
Sarah Elizabeth Gunn
Sarah Gunn, 81 Memorial services for Sarah Elizabeth Gunn, 81, of Escondido, Calif. were
held May 2 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif. Ms. Gunn died Feb. 9.
2000. Born in Winnfield, La. Ms. Gunn was the eldest of nine children, descendents of Mr.
and Mrs. Neil F. Gunn of Jonesboro. She attended Jonesboro-Hodge High School and was
one of the first groups of WACS in World War II. Sarah was a disabled veteran and was
buried with honors. She was loved and will be deeply missed by family members, relatives
and friends. She is survived by her sister, Alice C. Carman and her brother-in-law Jesse L.
Carman of Romona, Calif; brother, Neil F. Gunn and her sister-in-law Joanne of Wellington,
Nevada; four nieces; two nephews, two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
Sally Dunbar Gunn
Sally Dunbar Gunn, wife of W. A. Gunn, died at the home of her son, Andrew E. Gunn, on
the Mount Cross Road, this morning at 3:15 after a decline in health for the past several
years. Her condition had gradually worsened for the past 18 months. Mrs. Gunn, 81, was a
native of Pittsylvania County, where she was born Jan. 8, 1883, a daughter of the late Elisha
Keen Dunbar and Mrs. Martha Shumate Dunbar. Her entire life had been spent in the
county and, since 1925, she had made her home on the Mount Cross Rd. For the past week
she had been staying in the home of her son. Besides her husband, she is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hubbard Harmon of Alexandria, Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Ridgeway
and Mrs. Katherine Hearp of the Mount Cross Road; and two sons, Allen Gunn of San
Francisco, Calif., and Andrew E. Gunn of the Mount Cross Road. She also leaves one sister,
Mrs. Annie Hill of Martinsville; one brother, John Dunbar of Nathalie; 15 grandchildren
and 23 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Swicegood
Funeral Home, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o"clock by the Rev. W. Ernest Hogge and the Rev.
Fred H. Troll. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.The remains are at the
funeral home, and the family is at the home of her son, Andrew E. Gunn on the Mount Cross

Sarah Genette Pickett Gunn,
79, of Westfield, Pennsylvania, widow of Anson Gunn, died at the home of her son, Orrin
Gunn Friday morning, Jan. 23, 1942, after a three months illness. In November she fell and
broke her shoulder and since that time had been confined in bed. She was born at
Troupsburg, NY, Apr. 4, 1862. Survivors are two sons, Orrin Gunn and Otto Gunn, both of
Westfield and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Thomas of Westfield, R.D. and Mrs. Laura George of
Knoxville, PA. The funeral was held at the Simmons funeral home Monday at 2 pm. Burial
was in Champlin Cemetery.
