Etta Lee Strader Gunn,
wife of Hardy R. Gunn of 258 Martin Avenue, died unexpectedly last night. Although she
had been in declining health since early spring she became seriously ill and was carried to
the hospital immediately, where she died a few minutes after her arrival. Aged 65- years,
Mrs. Gunn was born in Rockingham County, N. C., May 18, 1890, a daughter of the late
Rev. Tom Strader and Mrs. Martha Scarlett Strader. She had resided in this community
since 1941, coming here from Wentworth, C., and she was a member of the Mt. Carmel
Methodist Church. In 1909, she was married to Mr. Gunn who survives her with two sons,
Eugene Gunn of Newport News and Hunter B. Gunn of Danville. She also leaves four
sisters, Mrs. Lasley of Greensboro, N. C., Mrs. Minnie Strader and Mrs. Goldie Stone of
Reidsille, N. C., and Mrs. Nealie Wall of Altoona, Pennsylvania; five mothers, George
Strader of Danville, Tom Strader, Luther Strader, and John Strader, all of Reidsville, N.
C., and Adolpuhus Strader of Muskegon Heights, Michgan; two grandchildren, one
stepgranddaughter, and one greatgrandchild. Funeral services will be conducted from the
Fairview Methodist Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will follow in
Highland Burial Park. The body is resting at the Swicegood Funeral Home, but will be
carried to the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock and will be moved to the church
tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 to await the funeral hour. July 18, 1966
Eugene M. Gunn
age 57, of Gulf Breeze Florida, died Sunday, March 4, 1984. Mr. Gunn was a native of Pass
Christian but had resided in the Gulf Breeze area for the past 5 years. He was a self
employed comubustion engineer and a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxillary where

Funeral services will be at 1 a.m. today in Hewett Funeral Home Chapel in Temple, Texas
for Mrs. Etta Petty Gunn, 82, of 918 Barracuda. Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery in
Troy. Local arrangements were under the direction of Cage-Mills Funeral Home. Mrs.
Gunn died at 2 p.m Wednesday, October 14, 1970 in a local nursing home after a long
illness. She had lived in Temple most of her life, moving here 13 months ago (wife of

Active in Bedford Little League -Eugene T. Gunn, 82, of Bedford, died at his home on Jan.
12, 2003. He was born Nov. 6,1920, in Schenectady, N.Y., the son of William Earl and Viola
(Trombly) Gunn. As a teenager, he moved to Hillsborough where his characteristic
competitive nature and passion for sports evolved. Mr. Gunn married Sophie Bondar and
