Birmingham, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family requests that
Exie Elizabeth (Eddie) Gunn
entered peacefully into the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Friday,
September 30, 2005. A life-long resident of Van Buren, AR and the widow of the late C.C.
(Pistol) Gunn, she had resided in Tulsa since his death in 1998. She was a devoted member
of the First Baptist Church in Van Buren, where she faithfully served her entire life. She
was a humble servant who lived a life that drew others to Christ because her life showed
the reality of what she professed. In addition to her husband of 66 years, she was preceded
in death by: her son, Johnson Gunn; her brothers, Aubrey Johnson and Marshall Johnson;
and her sisters, Robbie Upton, Dorothy Crow, and Louise O"Bryan. Eddie is survived by:
her daughters, Judy Maness and Jane and Jean Barrett; daughter-in-law, Sonya Gunn;
grandchildren, Jay and Patty Gunn, Lisa and Jack Chapman, Mike and Tonya Maness,
Michelle Maness, John Barrett and Jenny Barrett; and 6 precious great-grandchildren,
Taylor, Paige, and Samantha Gunn, Abbey and Ally Chapman, and Wyatt Maness. She is
also survived by her devoted caregiver, Carolyn McCall. Our present pain is far
overshadowed by the joy of knowing she is totally healed and with those she so loved who
had gone before. "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in
Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
John 11:25-26. Service is 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, at the First Baptist Church, Van
Buren, AR. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Women"s Mission Ministry,
First Baptist Church, Van Buren, AR. Published in the Tulsa World on 10/4/2005.
