Douglas <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr.<br />

Age 81, of Irvine, CA., passed away July 27th, 2005 due to cancer at Wildwood Canyon<br />

Villa, Yucaipa, CA. Douglas was born 09/25/1923 in Meridian, MS. He formerly lived in<br />

Riverside 23 years from 1956-1979. He worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 32<br />

years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant in Submarine Service<br />

from 1945-47. He earned his B.A. Engineering degree from the University of Tennessee in<br />

1945. Douglas earned many Awards of Excellence from Westinghouse. He was a member of<br />

Crossroads Christian Church in Corona, CA. Douglas is survived by his wife, Lucile <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

Yucaipa, CA.; 2 sons, Rob <strong>Gunn</strong>, Logan, Utah, Rick <strong>Gunn</strong>, Yucaipa, CA.; sister, Dorothy<br />

Howard, Mountain City, TN; 4 grandchildren. Memorial Service 08/02, 11am at Creekside<br />

Christian Fellowship, Irvine, CA. Burial 08/03, 11:30am at Riverside National Cemetery.<br />

He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and served his Lord well. EMMERSON-<br />

On September 17, 2003; DOUGLAS LEROY GUNN, beloved husband of the late Adeline<br />

Louise Schaefer <strong>Gunn</strong>; dear father of Carol <strong>Gunn</strong> Hennessey, Doug <strong>Gunn</strong>, Penny <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Barham and Anne <strong>Gunn</strong> Tejera; devoted brother of Virginia <strong>Gunn</strong> Clautice. Also,<br />

survived by 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the <strong>Gunn</strong> Residence<br />

Friday, 5 to 8 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 11 AM at the Chapel of the<br />

Church of the Redeemer. Interment Service Saturday 1 PM at Dulaney<br />

Douglas Leroy <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

a retired Baltimore County hospital administrator, died of congestive heart failure<br />

Wednesday at his home in Towson. He was 75. Born and raised in North Baltimore, Mr.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> attended Roland Park Grammar School and graduated from Polytechnic Institute in<br />

1945. After high school, Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> enlisted in the Army and served in the Philippines. He<br />

later enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park and was a member of the Kappa<br />

Alpha fraternity. He graduated with a business degree in 1951. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> married Adeline<br />

Schaefer in 1952, and the couple settled near Towson. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> worked as an<br />

administrator for Black & Decker, Catalyst Research in Baltimore and defense contractor<br />

AAI Corp. in Cockeysville.From the 1960s, Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> worked at Baltimore County<br />

General Hospital in Randallstown, now called Northwest Hospital Center, retiring in 1986<br />

as a vice president. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife loved animals and served as docents at the<br />

Baltimore Zoo. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> served on the board of directors of the Maryland Society for the<br />

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. His hobbies included taking boat cruises and building<br />

wood furniture for his grandchildren. A funeral was held yesterday. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived<br />

by three daughters, Carol <strong>Gunn</strong> Hennessey of Centreville, Penny <strong>Gunn</strong> Barham of<br />

Portsmouth, Va., and Anne <strong>Gunn</strong> Tejera of Miami; a son, Douglas <strong>Gunn</strong> of Sparks; and 11<br />

grandchildren.
