accident at the rail yard. <strong>Gunn</strong> was on a crane mounted on a rail car when he slipped on a<br />

ladder and fell approximately 9 feet to the ground around 1:15 p.m. Police said he slipped<br />

on hydraulic fluid, according to state police. A hydraulic hose had previously ruptured and<br />

covered the crane"s surface with a fluid, said Painted Post State Police Inv. Jeff Miller.<br />

"Everything is still under investigation," said Rudy Husband, regional representative of<br />

Norfolk Southern Railroad. "At this point, we haven"t confirmed any of the<br />

circumstances."Co-workers near the scene allegedly heard the fall and immediately<br />

rendered assistance to <strong>Gunn</strong>. Rural-Metro Ambulance arrived at the scene and transported<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> to Corning Hospital where he was pronounced dead. "He did suffer head injuries,"<br />

Miller said. "There was indication he hit his head." Additional information will be<br />

available after <strong>Gunn</strong>"s autopsy is completed by the Monroe County Medical Examiner"s<br />

Office in Rochester, <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

Donald L <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

CANISTEO - Donald L. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 55, of 3842 Upper Swale Rd., Cameron, passed away<br />

Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2004) at Corning Hospital due to an accident at work. Born in Hornell,<br />

Oct. 29, 1948, he was the son of Auldon L. and Elaine Talbot <strong>Gunn</strong>. Donald was a 1967<br />

graduate of Canisteo Central School, and an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, at<br />

which time he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW and a former<br />

member of the Cameron Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting,<br />

fishing and gardening. He processed venison for himself and local hunters. He was also a<br />

former midget wrestling coach. He was a Class I Equipment operator for the Norfolk &<br />

Southern Railroad Co. He married Dorothea N. Pierce, Jan. 27, 1968, she survives. Also<br />

surviving are two sons, Roger (Pamela) <strong>Gunn</strong> of Woodhull and Corbett <strong>Gunn</strong> (Bobbi<br />

Vosburg) of Penn Yan; his daughter, Nicole <strong>Gunn</strong> at home; his brother, Louis (Elaine)<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Addison; his grandchildren, Samantha, Carter, Pierce and Nicholas <strong>Gunn</strong>; and<br />

several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister,<br />

Susan Papenthien. Friends may call Friday, Jan. 23, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the H.P. Smith &<br />

Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St., Canisteo, where funeral and committal services<br />

will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. Rev. Brian Diffenbacher will officiate.<br />

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.<br />

Donald O. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr.,<br />

48, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. He was born in<br />

West Palm Beach, FL on October 25, 1962. Don proudly fought for our country during<br />

Desert Storm, serving in the U.S. Army. Donald's memory will be cherished by his<br />

children, Donald D. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Johnny <strong>Gunn</strong>, Hunter <strong>Gunn</strong> and Dalton <strong>Gunn</strong>; mother, Ruby<br />

Brooker; siblings, Roy (Angie) <strong>Gunn</strong>, Carl (Patty) <strong>Gunn</strong>, Margie (Jon) Kiely and Ralph<br />

(Heather) Jones; along with many other family members and friends. A visitation will be<br />

held 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Palms West Funeral Home<br />

with a service beginning at 12:30 PM. Following services, Donald will be buried, with<br />
