Kathy Sue Gunn
VIDALIA, Ga.— Mrs. Kathy Sue Curtis Gunn, age 53 of Vidalia, died Saturday,
September 11, 2010, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after and extended illness.
She was a native of the Detroit, Michigan, area. Upon marriage in 1977, Kathy’s husband
joined the Navy and the two went on to live in several states before settling in Vidalia in
1986. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and earned a Master’s Degree in
Biology. She taught science for five years at J.R. Trippe Middle School in Vidalia, but her
passion was the education and protection of sea turtles which led to her becoming the
coordinator of the Magnolia Midlands Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center with
East Georgia College in Swainsboro. She was an active member of The Oaks Baptist
Church in Lyons, where she taught the Youth Sunday School Class. She also was active in
Women’s Missions and Relay for Life. Mrs. Gunn is survived by her husband of thirty-two
years, Marvin M. Gunn, of Vidalia; one daughter, Sarah Jane Gunn McGann and her
husband, Jon, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; one son, Aaron Jacob Gunn, of Atlanta;
her parents, John and Mary Frances Jones Curtis, of Jonesborough, TN; three brothers,
John Curtis, of Wyandotte, Michigan; Joe Curtis, of Southgate, Michigan; and Jerry
Curtis, of Jonesborough; and one nephew; Mother and Father-in-Law, Dave and Elaine
Stacho, Allen Park, MI.

BAYBORO - Katie Potter Gunn, 54, of 440 Cooper Road, Bayboro, North Carolina, died
Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center. She attended Wardens
Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22,
at Wardens Grove Free Will Baptist Church cemetery with Connie Mitchell officiating. She
is survived by her husband, Howard Gunn of Bayboro; mother, Lovie Lupton of Bayboro;
daughter, Christina Carawan of Bayboro; and sister, Barbara McKenzie of Bayboro; five
grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions

May 3, 2006 - Funeral services for Katie Gunn Cardwell, 85, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be
at noon Monday, May 8, 2006 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Elder James Rowe
will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Traveler Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived
by six daughters; Ruby M. (Marvin) Junior of Markham Illinois, Katie M. (Kenneth)
Thompson of Stafford Virgina, Roberta (Eddie Lee) Webb of Camp Hill, Elizabeth
(Samuel) Phillips of Leesville South Carolina, Patricia A. Caldwell of Markham Illinois
and Mamie J. Rowe of Camp Hill; and one brother, Robert (Georgia) Gunn of Markham.
