Kathy Sue <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

VIDALIA, Ga.— Mrs. Kathy Sue Curtis <strong>Gunn</strong>, age 53 of Vidalia, died Saturday,<br />

September 11, 2010, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after and extended illness.<br />

She was a native of the Detroit, Michigan, area. Upon marriage in 1977, Kathy’s husband<br />

joined the Navy and the two went on to live in several states before settling in Vidalia in<br />

1986. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and earned a Master’s Degree in<br />

Biology. She taught science for five years at J.R. Trippe Middle School in Vidalia, but her<br />

passion was the education and protection of sea turtles which led to her becoming the<br />

coordinator of the Magnolia Midlands Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center with<br />

East Georgia College in Swainsboro. She was an active member of The Oaks Baptist<br />

Church in Lyons, where she taught the Youth Sunday School Class. She also was active in<br />

Women’s Missions and Relay for Life. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by her husband of thirty-two<br />

years, Marvin M. <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Vidalia; one daughter, Sarah Jane <strong>Gunn</strong> McGann and her<br />

husband, Jon, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; one son, Aaron Jacob <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Atlanta;<br />

her parents, John and Mary Frances Jones Curtis, of Jonesborough, TN; three brothers,<br />

John Curtis, of Wyandotte, Michigan; Joe Curtis, of Southgate, Michigan; and Jerry<br />

Curtis, of Jonesborough; and one nephew; Mother and Father-in-Law, Dave and Elaine<br />

Stacho, Allen Park, MI.<br />

BAYBORO - Katie Potter <strong>Gunn</strong>, 54, of 440 Cooper Road, Bayboro, North Carolina, died<br />

Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center. She attended Wardens<br />

Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22,<br />

at Wardens Grove Free Will Baptist Church cemetery with Connie Mitchell officiating. She<br />

is survived by her husband, Howard <strong>Gunn</strong> of Bayboro; mother, Lovie Lupton of Bayboro;<br />

daughter, Christina Carawan of Bayboro; and sister, Barbara McKenzie of Bayboro; five<br />

grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions<br />

may be made to Bryant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 99, Alliance, N.C. 28509 Arrangements by<br />

May 3, 2006 - Funeral services for Katie <strong>Gunn</strong> Cardwell, 85, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be<br />

at noon Monday, May 8, 2006 at <strong>New</strong> Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Elder James Rowe<br />

will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Traveler Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived<br />

by six daughters; Ruby M. (Marvin) Junior of Markham Illinois, Katie M. (Kenneth)<br />

Thompson of Stafford Virgina, Roberta (Eddie Lee) Webb of Camp Hill, Elizabeth<br />

(Samuel) Phillips of Leesville South Carolina, Patricia A. Caldwell of Markham Illinois<br />

and Mamie J. Rowe of Camp Hill; and one brother, Robert (Georgia) <strong>Gunn</strong> of Markham.<br />

Silmon/Seroyer Funeral Home, LLC is in charge of arrangements.<br />

Mrs. Thomas Holt died Saturday night, September 3, 1898. Deceased was; formerly Miss<br />

Katie <strong>Gunn</strong>, daughter of Rev. <strong>Gunn</strong>. The funeral takes place tomorrow afternoon from at.<br />

John's church here in San Antonio, with the Rev. Callahan officiating.<br />
