Edwin P. <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

75, of North Scituate died, apparently of a heart attack, Tuesday in the South Shore<br />

Hospital in Weymouth. He was 75. Born in Calais, Maine, Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> attended Roxbury<br />

Latin School and was graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1930. He had lived in North<br />

Scituate for the last 33 years. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> began a 38-year career with the John Hancock Co.<br />

as an agent. At the time of his retirement in 1968, he was director of field training and had<br />

been awarded membership to the Society of Charter Life Underwriters. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> also was<br />

a member of the executive board, the Committee on Management Training, and the Life<br />

Insurance Agency Management Assn. He had served on the Scituate School Committee for<br />

11 years and was a trustee and member of the Scituate Library Board. He leaves his wife,<br />

Marion (Bragdon); two daughters, Elizabeth Sonnenschein of Princeton, N.J., and Jean<br />

Lokensgard of Arlington; a son, Jonathan <strong>Gunn</strong> of Miami; and two brothers, Townsend<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of <strong>New</strong> London, N.H., and Guthrie <strong>Gunn</strong> of Kennebunkport, Maine. A memorial<br />

service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 in the North Scituate First Baptist Church.<br />

Reidsville, April 21, 1954 - Mrs Effie page <strong>Gunn</strong>, 71 died at 8 am yesterday at the home of<br />

her daughter, Mrs. L. O. Daniels of Route 1, Blanche, following an illness of two months.<br />

She was the widow of Thomas E. <strong>Gunn</strong> who died 16 years ago. She was born in Caswell<br />

County, and was the daughter of the late Bedford and Susan <strong>Gunn</strong> Page. Surviving are<br />

three daughters; Mrs. Daniels with who she made her home,; Mrs. Roy Jones of Pelham;<br />

and Miss Nettie <strong>Gunn</strong> of of Route 1, Blanche; four sons, Allen; Willie, Tommie; and<br />

Sterling <strong>Gunn</strong> all of Reidsville; two brothers, Williard Page of Reidsville and Stephen<br />

Page of Ruffin; five sisters, Mrs. Manaiza Rice Mrs. R. H. Vaughn; and Mrs. F. Z. Dix<br />

all of Danville, Virginia. Mrs. Mattie Watlington of Yanceyville, and Mrs. Mamie netherly<br />

of Madison; 10 grandchildren. Funeral was today at 3 pm at Prospect Methodist<br />

Effie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Mrs. Effie <strong>Gunn</strong>, 84, of 1353 West Lakewood Blvd., Holland, Michigan wife of Sidney<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, died Tuesday August 2, 1966 at Holland Hospital where she had been a patient for<br />

the past four days Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born in the Netherlands and has lived in Holland for the<br />

past 72 years She was a member of Beech wood Reformed Church. Surviving besides her<br />

husband, Sidney, are several cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at<br />

the Dykstra Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chester Postma officiating. Burial will be in<br />

Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family this evening and<br />

Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm.
