Nelson T. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

White seated at the breakfast table at his home 524 West Quartz Street yesterday, Dr. Nelson<br />

T. <strong>Gunn</strong> suddenly collapsed and died before medical aid could readh him. Dr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was 41<br />

years of age and the son of Dr. And Mrs. J. W. <strong>Gunn</strong>. He was deputy state veterinarian. Dr.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> was born in Tyvo, Nevada in 1880 and was 7 years of age when his parents moved to<br />

Butte, Montant. He attended the Butte schools, graduating in 1897. Dr. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived<br />

by his wife Mrs. Janie Gracey <strong>Gunn</strong>; a daughter Gracey; a son J. W. <strong>Gunn</strong>; his parents, Dr.<br />

And Mrs. J. W. <strong>Gunn</strong>; a sister, Mrs. A. C. Jones of Boise and a brother, Dr. J. W. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr<br />

Miss Nettie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Church Road - Miss Nettie Henrietta <strong>Gunn</strong>, 75, died Monday at the residence of her sister,<br />

Mrs. George M. Clark of Pool. She was the daughter of James F. and Laura Shackelford<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Clark and Miss Linda <strong>Gunn</strong> both of Church<br />

Road and one brother, R. H. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Wellville. Guneral services will be held at the grave in<br />

the cemetery of the Butterwood Methodist Church with the Rev. T. L. Simpson pastor of<br />

Nettie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Funeral services for Nettie Berneice (Holsted) <strong>Gunn</strong>, age 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday<br />

in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Oklahoma, with<br />

Wayne Laminack officiating. <strong>Gunn</strong> died Monday evening, Feb. 27, 2006, at Integris Clinton<br />

Regional Hospital. She was born on July 8, 1925, in Carnegie, the daughter of J.T. and<br />

Bertha Holsted. The family moved to Mountain View when she was a third grader, and she<br />

completed her schooling here, graduating in 1942. She then attended the University of<br />

Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1946 at age 20. <strong>Gunn</strong> taught home<br />

economics at Temple from 1946 to 1947 and then at Mountain View from 1949 to 1968. She<br />

then received a fellowship to complete her Masters at Arizona State University,<br />

accomplishing that in 1969. <strong>Gunn</strong> then taught in the Phoenix, Ariz. school district until 1976<br />

when she returned to Oklahoma and implemented a career orientation program in the<br />

Yukon schools. She retired in 1982 for health reasons. She and F.C. Buddy <strong>Gunn</strong> were<br />

married on Feb. 21, 1947. She was a member of the Mountain View Church of Christ.<br />

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, was a brother. Burial will<br />

conclude at 4 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors include her daughter, Darla<br />

Johnson and her husband, Jimmie, of Clinton; a son, Terry <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife, Wendy, of<br />

Marble Canyon, Ariz.; grandsons, Steve Prough of Altus, Mike Prough of Oklahoma City,<br />

Troy <strong>Gunn</strong> of Marble Canyon, Ariz.; and great grandchildren, Spencer and Jace of Altus<br />

and Taylor and Chandler of Oklahoma City. The family suggests that memorial<br />

contributions be made to the Nettie Berneice <strong>Gunn</strong> Scholarship Fund at InterBank in<br />

Clinton or the Shamrock National Bank in Mountain View or to the charity of the donors<br />

choice.<br />
