TAMPA - A 19-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder late Thursday after he<br />

told detectives he shot another 19-year-old on his lawn, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's<br />

Office said. Kristopher D. Sanders, of 850 Rocky Mountain Court, Valrico, was being held<br />

without bail at the Orient Road Jail this morning, records show. The sheriff's office said<br />

Sanders shot Tyrie <strong>Gunn</strong>, of 4704 Little Denise Court, Valrico, about 7:30 p.m. Thursday<br />

during an argument. Sanders got a .45-caliber pistol from his house when he saw <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

approaching and waited for him at the front door, the sheriff's office said. As words were<br />

exchanged, Sanders shot <strong>Gunn</strong> once in the chest and once in the head. <strong>Gunn</strong> collapsed about<br />

40 feet from the house and died.<br />

Valene <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

74, passed away Dec. 20, 1990 at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio, after a long illness.<br />

Born in Swainsboro, Ga., he was a member of this community for 44 years. A World War II<br />

Army veteran, he had worked as a millman at General Tire for 30 years, was a member of<br />

Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church in Swainsboro, Ga., and URW Local 9 and its Credit Union.<br />

Surviving are wife, Bobbie; daughters, Vanessa <strong>Gunn</strong>, Glenda <strong>Gunn</strong>, Kathey Matthews, all<br />

of Akron, Janice Valrie of Monterey Park, Calif.; son, James E. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Akron; brother,<br />

John <strong>Gunn</strong> of Swainsboro, Ga.; sisters, Ethel Stowbridge and Irene Mack, both of<br />

Swainsboro, Ga.; seven grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives<br />

and friends. Funeral service will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at Stewart & Calhoun Chapel, Rev.<br />

Louis T. DuBose officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the<br />

chapel Thursday, 12 to 1 p.m. Procession will form, and condolences may be sent to 505<br />

Vanessa <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

August 29, 1957- January 31, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA— Vanessa <strong>Gunn</strong>, 47, of 3530<br />

Ambassador Drive, Columbus, died Monday. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday,<br />

Feb. 5 at the Greater Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Marcus J.<br />

Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held<br />

from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel,<br />

Columbus. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born on Aug. 29, 1957 in Columbus, daughter of Anna Ford-<br />

Giles and the late Hardin Giles. She was employed at CB&T for seven years and previously<br />

held several positions in the Banking Industry. She attended public schools of Muscogee<br />

County and was a graduate of Jordan High School Class of 1974. She was a member of<br />

Greater Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was active in various ministries, to
