FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS: Sam Luther <strong>Gunn</strong> died November 29, 1943. He was born<br />

August 24, 1921. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Interment<br />

was at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark<br />

Sarah <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1900 at her residence in Huntsville , Alabama, at 2:30 p. m., Mrs-<br />

Sarah A. <strong>Gunn</strong>, wife of Mr. Allen <strong>Gunn</strong>, a prominent stock man of Randolph county. Mrs.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> was well known in this city and has many friends here. She was born in Pittsburg, Pa.,<br />

April 30, 1856, and was therefore 44 years of age. For a long time she had suffered with lung<br />

trouble which caused her death. Besides her husband to mourn her lose, she leaves two sister<br />

and five brothers. The funeral took place today at residence in Huntsville at 1 o'clock<br />

services conducted by Rev. Tilley of the Baptist church of Huntsville. The remains was<br />

brought to Moberly, Missouri and laid to rest in Oakland cemetery this afternoon at 4<br />

o'clock. VanCleve & Co. being the undertakers.<br />

Sarah Anne <strong>Gunn</strong> Sumner<br />

February 20, 1932 - December 13, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA— Sarah Anne <strong>Gunn</strong> Sumner, 76,<br />

of Columbus, GA died at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home Saturday, December 13, 2008.<br />

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. today, Monday, December 15, 2008 in Parkhill<br />

Cemetery with Dr. Buddy Cooper officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon<br />

Road. Mrs. Sumner was born February 20, 1932 in Fitzpatrick, AL; daughter of the late<br />

Cecil Edward <strong>Gunn</strong> and Mary Charles Baldwin <strong>Gunn</strong>. She had retired from Civil Service<br />

after many years of dedicated service and was a member of Upatoi United Methodist<br />

Church. Mrs. Sumner will be remembered as a very caring and loving lady who befriended<br />

everyone she met. Bo was a loving wife, mother and best friend, yet we can not find the<br />

words to describe what she meant to us. We will miss her deeply, yet her memories will<br />

forever be cherished in our hearts. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Hersey G.<br />

Sumner of Columbus, GA; two children, Gatling Sumner and his wife, Flo of Columbus, GA<br />

and Leigh Barfield and her husband, Stephen of Fortson, GA; one sister, Cecelia G. Seiler<br />

and her husband, Sonny of Savannah, GA; two granddaughters, Holly L. Taft and her<br />

husband, Bill of Memphis, TN and Megan M. Sumner of Jacksonville, FL; two uncles, Jack<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Columbus, GA and Otis <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife, June of Hamilton, GA; numerous<br />

nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Magnolia<br />

Manor Nursing Home and Columbus Hospice for their loving care and kindness. In lieu of<br />

flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to Columbus Hospice, 7020<br />
