Elizabeth Farris <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

<strong>New</strong>s was received Wednesday of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Farris <strong>Gunn</strong> in Bloomington,<br />

Illinois. She was formerly of Madison County, and is survived by her husband, one<br />

daughter, and her mother Mrs. Rufus McCord. Burial will take place in Bloomington. 12-<br />

YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Elizabeth Jefferson Foster <strong>Gunn</strong> died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at the<br />

home of her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy G. and Donald R. Bush in Glendale, Ariz.<br />

after several years of declining health. Elizabeth will be remembered for her unselfish<br />

giving of her time and talent caring for the sick and her love for people. Through the years<br />

her kindness touched the lives of so many of her friends and family. She will be greatly<br />

missed by all who knew her. Born Dec. 2, 1911, the oldest of seven children, she was the<br />

daughter of the late Hiram Basley Foster Sr. and Mary Eula Gatewood Foster. A native of<br />

Yanceyville, N.C. she graduated from Bartlett-Yancey High School and was a faithful<br />

member of the Yanceyville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the<br />

Eastern Caswell Chapter No. 239 Order of the Eastern Star. On Dec.22, 1933 she married<br />

William Laroy <strong>Gunn</strong>, who died Jan. 27, 1984. This union was blessed with two children,<br />

William Lee <strong>Gunn</strong> and Nancy <strong>Gunn</strong> Bush. Survivors include her daughter Nancy G. Bush<br />

and son-in-law Donald R. Bush of Glendale, Ariz.; her daughter-in-law Elaine W. <strong>Gunn</strong> of<br />

Danville, Va.; five grandchildren, Marc S. Choplick and wife Rosa of Glendora, Calif.,<br />

Wendy C. Krout and husband Rick of Lancaster, Pa., Ian M. Choplick of Los Angeles,<br />

Calif., Craig D. <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife Ivey of Danville, Va. and Johnsie G. Wiley and husband<br />

David of Mebane, N.C. She is also survived by eight great-grandchilren, Kevin Choplick,<br />

William Choplick, Sara Choplick, Rebecca Harr, Matthew Harr, William <strong>Gunn</strong>, Sadie<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>; and step-great-grandson, Cole Wiley; a sister, Ann F. Carroll of Providence, N.C.<br />

and a brother, Hiram Basley "Bas" Foster Jr. of Yanceyville, N.C. In addition to her<br />

parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, William Lee <strong>Gunn</strong> of Danville,<br />

Va.; sisters, Gladys F. Rorer of Chatham, Va., Jane F. Dunn of Rock Hill, S.C., Rebecca F.<br />

Fuller of Greensboro, N.C.; and brother Douglas E. Foster of Salisbury, N.C. The funeral<br />

will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Harrelson Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. George<br />

Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Yanceyville United Methodist Church<br />

Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral<br />

Home and at other times at the residence, 387 Main Street East, Yanceyville. In lieu of<br />

flowers memorial contributions may be made to Yanceyville United Methodist Church, c/o<br />

Thomas P. Davis, P.O. Box 1108, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379. Harrelson Funeral Service is in<br />

charge of arrangements.<br />
