68, of Waco, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at her home. Graveside services<br />

will be 11 a.m. Friday at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery with Father John T. Wells<br />

officiating. Bonnie was born July 21, 1943, in Waco, Texas, to James and Leoma <strong>Gunn</strong>.<br />

She graduated from Waco High School in 1961 and had recently attended her 50th High<br />

School Reunion.She loved ocean cruises and swimming with the Dolphins. She especially<br />

loved her four dogs. Bonnie worked for the City of Waco and retired from the State of<br />

Texas, Child Protective Services in 2005, after 30 years of service. She was preceded in<br />

death by her parents; a sister, Eva <strong>Gunn</strong> Miller; and numerous aunts and uncles. She is<br />

survived by her cousins, Frances House Carter and Carolyn <strong>Gunn</strong>; her caring friends, Jim<br />

and Carol Lowe and Tim and Vicki Watson. Memorials may be made to the Waco<br />

Humane Society, Fuzzy Friends Rescue or the American Cancer Society<br />

Bonnie S. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

71, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Memorial Health University Medical Center, Savannah,<br />

Georgia. She was born in Stephens county Georgia and grew up in Toccoa Georgia. Mrs.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> was a longtime resident of Port Wentworth and was a member of the Port<br />

Wentworth Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was retired from Union Camp<br />

Corporation and presently employed with H&R Block. Surviving is her son, Kelly <strong>Gunn</strong> of<br />

Port Wentworth, daughters, Jimmie Sue <strong>Gunn</strong> of Port Wentworth, Tammy Saturday of<br />

Meldrim, three sisters, one brother, five grandchildren , four great grandchildren and<br />

several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Fox<br />

and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel. Graveside Services will be Wednesday,<br />

April 27, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Savannah<br />

Booker T. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Booker T. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 79, of 500 JEB Stuart Road, Martinsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002,<br />

at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born Dec. 2, 1922, in<br />

Tuskegee, Ala., he graduated from Tuskegee High School and attended Tuskegee Institute.<br />

After school, <strong>Gunn</strong> made a career of the military, serving in World War II, the Korean<br />

Conflict and two terms in Vietnam. In 1973 he retired with the rank of chief warrant after<br />

30 years in the Navy and Army. After a stint as an automotive mechanic at a Buick<br />

dealership in Annapolis, Md., and attending the GM Institute of Automotive Management,<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> accepted a Buick dealership in Martinsville in 1981. He owned and operated <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Buick for 12 years, and became involved in a number of local organizations. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a<br />

past president of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, was elected to the<br />

board of directors of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, had served on the board of the<br />

Virginia Museum of Natural History and the Patrick Henry Community College Education<br />

Foundation and on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Martinsville and Henry<br />

County.He had served as the Roanoke Chapter Commander of the Military Order of<br />

World Wars and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Men"s<br />

Roundtable Club and Bethel United Way of the Cross Church in Danville where he was a<br />

deacon. In addition to his parents, Johnny <strong>Gunn</strong> and Anna Perry <strong>Gunn</strong>, he was preceded<br />

in death by his wife, Elizabeth Pinkney <strong>Gunn</strong>; a brother, Henry Hoover <strong>Gunn</strong>, and two<br />

sisters, Anna Nurse and Annie Mae Johnson. Surviving are five sons, Booker T. <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr.
