Carlton Kenneth <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Carlton Kenneth C.K. <strong>Gunn</strong> age 78 passed away on Monday October 11, 1999 in San<br />

Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille. He is survived by his son<br />

Carlton Kenneth <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr.; brother, Ray Dell <strong>Gunn</strong>. He served his country during WWII<br />

in the Army Air Corps and later in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was<br />

employed by the Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years as a conductor and<br />

brakeman, retiring in 1988. He and his family kept many close family and friends in San<br />

Antonio and retired here in 1991. He was a loving husband, devoted father and precious<br />

friend and neighbor who will be deeped missed by all who knew and loved him. (Thomas<br />

Carol L <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

27, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, March 3, 1997. She was preceded in death by her<br />

mother, Dorothy Hale, and her husband, Anthony <strong>Gunn</strong>. Survivors include her father,<br />

James A. Poindexter; a son, James Hale, and her paternal grandmother, Maggie<br />

Poindexter, all of Roanoke; three brothers, David Hale of York, Pa., Donnie Hale of<br />

Lynchburg and Tony Hale of Roanoke; aunts, Scottie (Paul) Reeves, Edith (Preston)<br />

Thompson, Edith Jones and Wanda Hughes of Roanoke, Linda Musa of Pasadena, Md.,<br />

and Margaret Ashley of Apopka, Fla.; uncles, James (Nira) Edwards, Edward, Richard<br />

Andrew and Ellis Poindexter, all of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Sylvia <strong>Gunn</strong>; nieces,<br />

nephews, cousins; other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, March<br />

7, 1997, at 2 p.m., at Garden of Prayer #6, with Elder Malverse Simpson officiating.<br />

Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour<br />

prior to the funeral hour. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5,<br />

from 2 to 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the church Friday at 10 a.m. Arrangements by<br />

Serenity Funeral Home, 126 Gilmer Avenue, N. W.<br />

Carmen L. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

ROCK-PORT - Carmen L. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 88, of Rockport, died Sunday, September 12, 2004, at<br />

her home. Carmen was born in Rockport on July 23, 1916, to James Lee and <strong>My</strong>rtle<br />

(Wilson) Beckort. She was converted in the old Larkin Baptist Church under the pastorate<br />

of Rev. John Betts. She married Wandel <strong>Gunn</strong> on May 25, 1935. She became a member of<br />

the Bethel Tabernacle Congregation, which later became Bethel Christian Center, in Reo,<br />

Ind. She joined Garnet Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in 1957. She held all the offices,<br />

some several years at a time. She was Worthy Matron five times and District President of<br />

District No. 1 in 1985. She loved her work there and the brothers and sisters she met with.<br />

She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by<br />

her husband, Wandel; a son, James Michael <strong>Gunn</strong>; and a daughter, Patricia<br />

Garrett.Surviving are a son, Marlin <strong>Gunn</strong> of Robinson, Ill.; a daughter, Jeanie Ambrose of
