Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong>, 78, Versailles, died April 18, 2003, at Good Shepherd Care Center,<br />

Versailles, Mo. She was born Nov. 30, 1924 at Versailles, Missouri, daughter of Aubrey T.<br />

and Rosa Dolstein Williams. She married Paul <strong>Gunn</strong> on Aug. 20, 1949, who preceded her<br />

in death on Sept. 7, 2002. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> taught school at Goodman and East Prairie Rural<br />

Schools, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles, the Morgan County<br />

Historical Society, and the V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She is survived<br />

by one son, Ralph <strong>Gunn</strong> of Versailles; one daughter Lynne Keesling of Wichita, and 5<br />

grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kidwell Garber Funeral Home,<br />

Versailles. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the<br />

Kidwell Garber Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the<br />

Versailles Nutrition Center<br />

Elizabeth Adaline <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Rockville Republican 11-29-1911 - Elizabeth Adaline <strong>Gunn</strong> was born near Prairieton, Ind.,<br />

June 14, 1856, and departed this life Nov. 21, 1911. She was united in marriage to George<br />

M. Laverty, Sept. 26, 1877. To this union were born six children: Wallace Aquilla, Mabel<br />

Irene, James Benjamin, <strong>My</strong>rtle Alice, Permelia Elizabeth and Harry Glenn, all of whom<br />

are living. Mrs. Laverty, together with her husband united with the Christian Church,<br />

under pastorate of B. S. Dailey in November 1887 and retained her membership in the<br />

same church until death called her home triumphant. â€|During the last days of her illness<br />

her greatest worry was in leaving her family, but before the end came, she had become<br />

entirely reconciled with the will of God, telling her loved ones not to grieve for her as she<br />

was going to her Heavenly home. One of her last expression was "Oh it is glorious." Soon<br />

after saying this she fell into that dreamless sleep, the awakening of which is with God."<br />

Elizabeth F. (Tizzie) <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

89, of McMath Road, Meadville, Ga., died in her home Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, after a feisty<br />

and courageous battle with cancer.She was born April 25, 1920, in <strong>My</strong>lo, Ark., a daughter<br />

of the late Luanne Ford Rodgers and Bradford Rogers.She married the late Harold S.<br />

Layburn, who passed away in 1980. She later married Thomas <strong>Gunn</strong>, who died Sept. 11,<br />

2001.Elizabeth worked as a waitress at the Beacon Inn, Piatt’s Inn and The Evergreen in<br />

the 1950s. She was a proud lifetime member of Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department.<br />

She enjoyed traveling every summer to Lake Martin, Ala., for family reunions. Her last<br />

trip was in July to Arkansas to visit her sisters. She was a Baptist by faith.She is survived<br />

by a daughter, Sue Layburn Schossler and her husband, Joseph of Oil City; three<br />

granddaughters, Tammy Nelson of Columbia, S.C., Terry Schossler of Oil City and Toni<br />

Witherow and her husband, Scott of Hope Mills, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Joseph<br />

and Elizabeth Schossler of Columbia, S.C., and Isabella Witherow of Hope Mills, N.C.; two<br />

sisters, Evelyn Sivils of Hamburg, Ark., and Thomasene Anders and her husband, Chester<br />

of Crossett, Ark.; a special cousin, Ann Pistole of North Liberty, Iowa; and many nieces<br />

and nephews.Elizabeth was preceded in death by sisters Adora Rodgers and Hazel Davis of<br />

Arkansas; brothers William (Bob) Rodgers of California; Robert (Bob) Rodgers of
