Evelyn E., died Tues., Nov. 27 at age 91. Preceded in death by husband, Sidney <strong>Gunn</strong>; 2<br />

brothers & 2 sisters. Survived by daughters, Carol Evers of Mpls., Frances Hazle (Jim) of<br />

Shady Cove, OR; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Berg, Richfield<br />

& Irene Serdahl, Waubun, WA; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Evelyn was<br />

born in Dodge County, MN Aug. 9, 1910. She graduated from the U of M School of Nursing<br />

in 1933. Mom was a skilled nurse, dedicated gardener, and wonderful candy maker, all<br />

talents which she shared generously. Service of Remembrance, Sat. 12 noon, Lakewood<br />

Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave S. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials<br />

preferred to Alzheimer"s Assoc., U of M School of Nursing or family. Washburn-McReavy<br />

Evelyn E. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Born October 27, 1914,<br />

age 95, of Universal City and San Antonio, passed away at 6:10 pm, Monday, 28 June 2010<br />

in San Antonio, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born in Rosholt, South Dakota, 27<br />

October 1914, to Peter Herman Pederson Eidet and Selma Henrietta Adelia Peterson, the<br />

former Evelyn Olga Eidet moved to Washington, D.C., during World War II, to work in<br />

Civil Service. Joining the Women's Army Corps as an officer in 1947, she was assigned to<br />

Headquarters, 5th Air Force, Nagoya, Japan, where she met Master Sergeant Daniel M.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, U.S. Air Force. They were married on 8 November 1948 and Evelyn began a<br />

married life of accompanying her husband to assignments around the nation, including<br />

California, Alaska, Georgia, and finally Randolph A.F.B., Texas. During these assignments,<br />

Evie was usually hired by the Civil Service as a financial analyst. During her final<br />

assignment at Randolph, she was the budget analyst with responsibilities for all six Air<br />

Training Command pilot training bases. She retired at Randolph as a GS-13 in 1980 after a<br />

career in Civil Service that exceeded her husband's 34 years of military service. Shortly<br />

after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998, Dan died of cancer and was<br />

buried at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1 February 1999. Evelyn is survived by<br />

her son Mark (a retired Air Force pilot and a retired teacher) and his wife Ruth and their<br />

two children, Daniel and Heather, and by her daughter Dianne of Los Angeles, CA. The<br />

family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, 5 July 2010, at the Colonial<br />

Funeral Home Chapel, 625 Kitty Hawk, Universal City, TX. Services will be at 10:00 a.m.,<br />

Tuesday, 6 July 2010, also at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Internment with Military<br />

Honors will be next to her husband at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of<br />

flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 7400 Louis<br />

Pasteur, Suite 200, San Antonio, TX 78229
