presented each year to a local Fiji in recognition of his loyalty and devotion to Phi Gamma<br />

Delta. He received the Distinguished Fiji Award in 1965 and attended eleven Ekklesiai.<br />

Most significant of all is the story of the "Gold Key". As George puts it, "The kids came<br />

out to the house and presented me with the key in recognition of the work I had done in<br />

helping the house through some tough spots." A dynamic Fiji, Brother <strong>Gunn</strong> felt that no<br />

matter how much time he spent on his fraternity, he could never do as much for Phi<br />

Gamma Delta as Phi Gamma Delta had done for him.<br />

Georgie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

KENDALLVILLE. Ind., Jan. 1, 1908—At the stated meeting of Kendallville Georgie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

died at her home at South Milford. Tuesday evening at 11 o'clock, age sixty-six years. She<br />

hadbeen ill for some time with pneumonia and gradually grew worse until paralysis caused<br />

her death. The funeral services will be held at the house Friday morning at 10:30, the Rev.<br />

Mawhorter officiating. Interment at Wright's cemetery. The deceased leaves a husband,<br />

one daughter, a sister and a host of friends to mourn her death.<br />

George <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

86, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009. He was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He<br />

was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Cove and an Air Force aircraft<br />

mechanic in World War II. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Farmer's Academy<br />

Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of<br />

Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. He is survived by his wife, Irma; four daughters,<br />

Mary <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jo Reed, Sharon Shook and Annette DeGroot; two sisters; three brothers;<br />

nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be<br />

made to Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church or Hospice.<br />

George <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

7/25/17 ; 5/22/08 Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, the son of Scottish immigrants.<br />

He graduated from North Central High School and then went to the University of<br />

Washington, graduating in 1941. After graduation he joined the Army Air Corps as an<br />

officer and bombardier instructor. While on leave in Miami he met Helen Forehand, a<br />

nurse from Georgia. They were married in 1945 and moved to Seattle where they settled in<br />

the Wedgwood area and raised their four sons. George worked for Frederick & Nelson as a<br />

buyer and store manager for 30 years. He then joined Eddie Bauer for a short time as<br />

Regional Executive. At age 60 he began a second career in the travel business as President<br />

of Our World Tours which he enjoyed for almost 20 years. George was always optimistic<br />

and looked for the best in every person and situation. He and Helen loved to travel, garden<br />

and play bridge and poker. They enjoyed family trips to Long Beach and Lake Bosworth.<br />

He was Santa every Christmas for his grandchildren, extended family and neighbors. Later<br />

in life he developed a love of singing and was never without his songbook. He sang in the<br />

quartet at Ida Culver House and played in the Bell Choir at Aegis of Lynnwood. He took<br />

great joy in entertaining the residents. George is survived by his four sons, Brad <strong>Gunn</strong>
