Glendale, Gunn married his wife Tina in 1977 and the pair had three children, Lesli, Dawna

citizens of Burbank,” Tina Gunn wrote in the funeral program. A special message to a select
group of officers, many of whom served an elite detail with her late husband, asked them to
be strong and remember, “Aut Pax Aut Bellum” — either peace or war. Gunn worked for
the Southern Pacific Railroad before joining the ranks of the Burbank Police Department as
an officer, detective and sergeant. He was named in a Sept. 14 federal subpoena for the
personnel records of 12 officers seeking information related to use-of-force issues and
possible civil rights violations. Affectionately known as “Papa Gunn,” he had six
grandchildren, Ruby, Priscilla, Mariah, Layla Sadie and Neil.

Neill V. Gunn In loving memory of Neill V. Gunn who died Tuesday, May 20th, 2003. He is
survived by his three children, Kevin, Teresa, and Kimberly; his former wife, Lynn Duffy;
and grandchildren, Roxanne Simons and Matthew Tamplen. He was born in Fresno,
California in 1929. He graduated from San Francisco State with a masters in Physical
Education. He taught at Richmond High School from 1952 to 1961 and then taught Health
and Physical Education at Contra Costa College from 1961 to 1989. At Contra Costa he
coached football, tennis, golf and gymnastics. He continued to teach on a part time basis until
2001 and always said he loved every minute of it. He will be remembered by his family, many
friends, and students for his humor, his intelligence and his excellence as a teacher. He will
be dearly missed by his children as a loving father. Memorial services will be held at 3:00
Wednesday, May 28th at the Richmond Country Club. Published in the Contra Costa Times

catharsis I am beginning to come to terms with my father"s death his services are concluded
his house sold belongings moved out bills paid assets divided. The final threshold of my grief
is piled high in the back seat of my car the last load of his clothes and blankets are there they
wrap my pain dress my wounds in his scent that familiar smell has become my lifeline. I will

Nelda Jean Clark
Daughter of William Lester and Ida Gunn died July 29, 2006 age 70. She was from
Monahans, formerly Bell County, Texas, Services are 5:30 p.m., Academy First Baptist
Church. The body will be cremated. Andrews Funeral Home, Andrews, in charge. (Thomas
