live where there were trees and water, so graduation from Tech brought him and his family<br />

to Seattle to work for Boeing. His fourth son was born in Seattle and through the years he<br />

relished the outdoor activities the area has to offer. With his family (and Scout Troop 284)<br />

he spent countless weekends hiking and camping. He always enjoyed seeing new places and<br />

things and he & Connie"s life together was rich in experiences ranging from swimming<br />

with piranha in the Amazon to getting iced in on a fishing boat in the Bearing Sea to<br />

attending his son"s Shinto Wedding in Tokyo. Boating was a big part of his life and he was<br />

a 26 year member of the Queen City Yacht club. Erwin is survived by his wife Connie and<br />

sons Daniel and David of Seattle, Douglas of Samoa, and Dennis (wife Midori) of Tokyo. He<br />

leaves grandchildren: Naomi Sikur (husband Csaba), Natha, <strong>Gunn</strong>, Austin <strong>Gunn</strong>, Morgan<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, and Bowie <strong>Gunn</strong>, and great grandchildren Conner Andersen, Benajmin Sikur,<br />

Austin and Staysha <strong>Gunn</strong>. We will all miss him greatly. The family requests remembrances<br />

Espy F. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Lexington Clipper: 15 January 1948 - HEART ATTACK FATAL TO ESPY FRANKLIN<br />

GUNN. Espy F. <strong>Gunn</strong>, popular and efficient custodian at the local high school died<br />

suddenly last Thursday. He had been at work, and complained of not feeling well. On his<br />

way home he is said to have suffered a heart attack and died before he reached his home.<br />

Espy Franklin <strong>Gunn</strong> was born October 20, 1893, in Dawson County. He was one of eight<br />

children born to Burrel and Rozella <strong>Gunn</strong>. He was united in marriage to Miss Stella<br />

Westfall, January 1, 1919, and to this union was born one son, Donald <strong>Gunn</strong>. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

was a farmer most of his life until 1927. Then for about two years he was employed by a<br />

gas company in South Dakota. He returned to Lexington in 1928, and the family made<br />

their home here since that time. He worked for a lumber company and other firms for some<br />

time then in 1939 became custodian at the Lexington High School. He continued until his<br />

death. He had always been in good health and his sudden death from a heart attack on<br />

January 8, came as a great surprise and shock to family and friends. He was preceded In<br />

death by his father and mother, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by his<br />

wife, Mrs. Stella <strong>Gunn</strong>, and one son, Donald; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Orthman, Hysham,<br />

Montana; Mrs. Ica Bullock, Anaheim, California; one brother, Jesse A. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Oxford,<br />

Indianna; twenty-two nieces and nephews and many other more distant relatives. Mr.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> was a member of the Lexington Methodist Church. Those who knew him speak of<br />

him as a honest and upright man, He was known for his gentle disposition in his home and<br />

students and teachers of the school will remember him as a kindly and friendly person.<br />

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Lexington, Sunday, January 11,<br />

1948, with Rev. L. R. Davis in charge. Internment was in Greenwood Cemetery. (Elisha<br />

Essie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Essie Mae <strong>Gunn</strong> Lee, 69, widow of Ralph Jefferson Lee, of 180 Lee Drive, died Dec. 30,<br />

1999, at Oconee Memorial Hospital. She was a daughter of the late William Wesley and<br />

Icey Emma Smith <strong>Gunn</strong>. Member: Grace Baptist Church.Survivors: sons, Ralph Thomas<br />

Lee of Mountain Rest, and Gregory Lee of Salem; daughters, Patricia Lusk of Salem, and
