Betty Jean Gunn
Elizabeth Jean Law - 9/10/98 Betty J. Law, 74, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998,
at her residence. She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late James Alley Gunn
and Elizabeth Kelly Gunn McIntire. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School
and West Virginia Business College, and retired from the Harrison County Clerk's office
where she served as bookkeeper. She was a member of Rachel Chapter #47 Order of
Eastern Star (now Queen Ester Chapter #11). Surviving are two daughters, Victoria Seders
of Bridgeport and Robin Compton of Farmington, N.M. one sister, Edna Fowler of Lorain,
Ohio; and four grandchildren, Michael and Robert Seders of Bridgeport and Nathan and
Tyler Compton of Farmington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Law;
two brothers, Edward Bill Gunn and Robert Gunn; and two sisters, Eleanor Lutz and
Emma "Boots" Johnson. Services were held at Bridgeport Cemetery, with Rev. Thomas P.
Horne officiating. (Franklin and Mary McDaniel Gunn desc).
Betty Jean Gunn Davis
Funeral services for Betty Jean Gunn Davis, 64, of Clarkesville, Georgia, were held at 2
p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with
Wilford Dean and the Rev. Steve McIntyre officiating. Burial followed at Amy's Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Habersham Medical
Center following a sudden illness. Born Dec. 7, 1944, in Habersham County, she was the
daughter of Mildred Free Gunn of Demorest and the late Fred Gunn. In addition to her
father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Young Davis; and sister, Virginia Cook..
Mrs. Davis enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and fishing. In addition to her mother,
survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Clint Chitwood of Clarkesville;
son and daughter-in-law, William and Lisa Vandergriff of Clarkesville; brother and sisterin-law,
Tommy and Peggy Gunn of Demorest; brother, Ronnie Gunn of Alto; sister and
brother-in-law, Elaine and Willie D. Wheeler of Demorest; sister, Dorothy Parrish of
Loganville; grandchildren, Hannah and her husband, Brandon DeMore, Kayla Chitwood,
Cody Vandergriff; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the

age 81 years, died 10/21/08. Preceded in death by husband, Bernard Gunn. Survived by
daughter, Rene E. Gunn; sons, Bernard Gunn (Thelma), Michael and Douglas Gunn;
sister, Doris Avery (William), all Omaha; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; other
relatives; dear friends. Viewing Sun. 3-8 PM with family present from 6-7 PM. Celebration
of Life Mon. 2 PM all at Myers Chapel with Ministers John and Vivian Ewing officiating.
