Senior Citizens, and the King James Association. Survivors include her sons, Raymond J.<br />

Mayhew Jr. of Parrotsville, Tenn. and Lyman Mayhew of Colorado; a daughter, Thelma<br />

Ripley of Parrotsville, Tenn. 36 grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; and<br />

several nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by two sons,<br />

John Mayhew and Harold Mayhew, and a sister, Ethel Conant. A graveside service will be<br />

held on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. in Erving Center Cemetery with the Rev. Gordon<br />

<strong>New</strong>ell of the Erving Congregational Church officiating. There are no calling hours. In<br />

lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Erving<br />

Congregational Church, Main St., Erving. Witty"s Funeral Home, Orange, is directing<br />

arrangements<br />

Doris Marie <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Doris Marie <strong>Gunn</strong>, 76, of Whittier, NC, formerly of Franklin, died Wednesday, April 1,<br />

1998 at her residence. She was a native of Marion County, FL, the daughter of the late<br />

Kate Jenkins Waldron. She was married to James G. <strong>Gunn</strong> who died in 1995. She was a<br />

homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She is survived by two daughters, Etheleen<br />

McCutcheon and Barbara Jody Munch of Whittier, NC; one sister, Jerri Schooley of<br />

Melrose, FL; one brother, Roland Waldron of Belleview, FL; seven grandchildren, 17<br />

great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held<br />

Saturday, April 4, in the Chapel of Bryant Funeral Home with Father Gregg officiating.<br />

Burial was in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons.<br />

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Macon County, PO Box 1594, Franklin, NC 28734.<br />

Doris M. <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

born August 10, 1922, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2005. She was an active<br />

member and longtime tour guide for Senior Citizens at Universal City First Baptist<br />

Church. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by her husband of 17 years, Delbert L. <strong>Gunn</strong>; three<br />

daughters: Linda Scott and husband Joe, Debbie Frick and husband Edward, and Jana<br />

Wanick and husband Don; two sons: Michael Smith and wife Tina and Ron <strong>Gunn</strong>; 12<br />

grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Departed on<br />

Mar. 1, 2005 and resided in San Antonio, TX. Visitation: Thursday Mar. 3, 2005 Service:<br />

Friday Mar. 4, 2005 Cemetery: Mission Burial Park South<br />

Doris Kathryn Yates <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

Hampton, Virginia-77, died Saturday, March 1, 1997. Bornin Mitchell County, Ga., she<br />

was the daughter of the late William Lacy and Evelyn Yates. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> graduated from<br />

Mitchell County High School in Camilla, Ga., and attended Huntington College in<br />

Montgomery, Ala., for two years, transferring to the University of Georgia as a junior. She<br />

graduated with a B.A. degree in Home Economics in 1940. While at the University of<br />

Georgia, she met Frank L. <strong>Gunn</strong>. They were married in 1941, after his graduation from<br />

the university. Since Frank had a 2nd Lieutenant commission in the Army, he was ordered<br />

to active duty at Fort Bragg, N.C. They began a wonderful marriage which lasted over 55<br />

years, of which 30 were spent in the Army. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a volunteer of 28 years for the<br />

Red Cross and was a member of the Hampton Chapter of the Daughters of the American<br />

Revolution, Officers Wives" Club of Fort Monroe, Hampton Woman"s Club, and Wives
