Delia <strong>Gunn</strong> Dewees<br />

Delia "Dee Dee" Dewees, 56, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, in Dumas. Graveside services will<br />

be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with the Rev. Walter Reed,<br />

pastor of First Christian Church of Stratford, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison<br />

Funeral Directors. Mrs. Dewees was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Medford, Ore. She was a<br />

homemaker and had lived in Stratford since 1987. Survivors include her husband, Jim<br />

Dewees; two daughters, Barbara Dewees and Susan Dewees, both of Stratford; three<br />

brothers, Jim <strong>Gunn</strong>of Bremerton, Wash., George <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr. of Medford and Jeremy<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>of Springfield, Ore.; and a sister, Barbara Hedges of Pleasant Hill, Ore. Amarillo<br />

January 29, 1953 Winn Parish Enterprise Final Rites Held For D. C. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Sr., Monday<br />

Afternoon Final rites for D. C. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Sr., 82 years, 2 months, and 8 days of age, who died<br />

suddenly Saturday, January 24, 1953, at the home of his son, Leon, in Winnfield, were held<br />

at the Hodge Methodist church at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Mr. Swanner, of Jonesboro<br />

officiating. Pallbearers were Rev. Ed Mixon, Virgil Barton, Walter Dyer, Wilber Dyer,<br />

Henry Gorham, and Dee Ingles. A native of Eros, La., Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> had spent most of his life<br />

in Winnfield where he raised his family. His wife, the former Tencie Hines, preceded him<br />

in death in 1938. Until he retired, he operated an ice house on Allen Street for the service of<br />

residents in that section of Winnfield. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eula Bunce of<br />

Buffalo, N. Y., and Mrs. Gertie Brazzell of Port Arthur, Texas; two sons, Leon of<br />

Winnfield and D. C., Jr., of Port Arthur, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. M. Dyer, Cheneyville,<br />

La., Mary Bartley, Grace Ernest and Eunice Glotfelter, all of El Paso, Texas. He also left 17<br />

Gilbert Louisana May 5, 1915. D. W. <strong>Gunn</strong> a prominent citizen of this ward died this<br />

morning at 3 o’clock. He is survived by a wife, one son and two little daughter.<br />

Dan Alvin <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

1933 - 2006 Dan A. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 71, passed away at his ranch in Energy Texas, Thursday, Jan.<br />

12, 2006. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary"s Episcopal Church in Hamilton. Visitation:<br />

4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Riley Funeral Home. Memorials: St. Mary"s Episcopal Church in<br />

Hamilton. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born Sept. 26, 1933, in Borger, the son of Charles Norwood<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>. He graduated from Amarillo High School in early 1952 and graduated from<br />

Oklahoma State University in 1956. From there he served in the Air Force, obtaining his<br />

pilot experience. He retired from Frontier Airlines after 29 years. He was an avid cattle
