Gunn, he was a truck driver and a member of Cleaton Baptist Church. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Daniel”Danny Boy” Gunn. Survivors include a son, David Gunn of
Central City; a daughter, Angela Keating of Cleaton; two sisters, Betty Geary of Cleaton
and Kathleen Taylor of Palastine, Ill.; five brothers, Jimmy Gunn of Central City, Buddy
Gunn of Cleaton, Johnny Gunn of Graham, Kenny Gunn of South Carrollton and Mitchell
Gunn of Greenville; his companion for life, Shirley Gunn; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at Tucker Funeral Home
with the Rev. Ernest Bean and the Rev. Ted Everly officiating. Burial followed in Miller
Cemetery in Cleaton (Thomas and Sarah Boatwright Gunn descendant)
David Westley Gunn
GASTONIA - David Westley Gunn, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 27, 2012, at
the Robin Johnson House. David was born on April 20, 1949, to the late Oscar Lamb and
Viola King Gunn in Habersham County, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, his
wife of 41 years, Sherry Ann Christenbury Gunn who died in 2007, his brothers, Orville,
Eddie, Louis, and sisters Shirley Ann, Suzy and Barbara Jean. David was a loving
husband, father, grandfather and brother. Survivors include his sons, Michael David
Gunn and fiancée Tammy Parker of Gastonia; Christopher Mack Gunn and wife Aimee of
Gastonia; grand-children, Stuart and Sandra Gunn, Gates and Sarah Gunn, Ragan and
fiancé Chad Huffstetler, Taylor, Jessica, Ashley, Savannah and Chase; greatgrandchildren,
Corey, Madison, Wesley, Luke, Avery and Hannah Claire; brothers,
Charles, Bobby, Roy, and Donnie all of Gastonia and Billy of Clover, S.C.; sisters, Havis
Hale and Linda Becham of Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
Wednesday at the Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will
be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Withers & Whisenat Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Gunn
Jr. officiating

85, textile retiree, died Feb. 7, 1990, at Piedmont Medical Center. Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday
at Greene Funeral Home. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Survivors
are his son, Davis Gunn Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Addie Bolin of Blacksburg; stepsons, Tommy
Goins of Florida, Willie Goins; stepdaughters, Mrs. Vernie Merritt of Fort Mill, Mrs.
Audrey Miller of Monroe, N.C. ROCK HILL - Mrs. Viola Boggs Johnson, textile retiree,
died Feb. 6, 1990, at Camphaven Nursing Home in Inman. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at
Northside Baptist Church. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Survivors
are her son, Larry Johnson; daughter, Mrs. Helen Camp of Inman; brother, Otis De Loach
of Columbia; sisters, Mrs. Ruth Leister, Miss Gertrude De Loach.
Davis Howard Gunn, Jr.
ROCK HILL, SC - Services for Davis "Bill" Howard Gunn Jr., 66, will be held at 3 p.m.
Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Catawba Ward, with burial in the
church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 this evening at Greene Funeral Home Northwest
Chapel. Mr. Gunn died Monday. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Davis H. Sr.
