Robert L. <strong>Gunn</strong>. -<br />

posted January 15, 2003 - Robert L. <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Chattanooga, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in a<br />

local hospital. He was retired from the Crane Company. He was preceded in death by his<br />

parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae <strong>Gunn</strong>; brother,<br />

Thomas <strong>Gunn</strong> of Chattanooga; sister, Alene Ford, Leighton, Ala.; and several nieces,<br />

nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in<br />

Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. James Penny officiating. Visitation will be<br />

from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.<br />

Robert O. <strong>Gunn</strong> GUNN, Mr. Robert O., of <strong>New</strong> Kent, Va., passed away peacefully after a<br />

brief illness on December 31, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean; daughters, Gloria<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>-Grant (Curtis) and Lilie Harris; and his sister, Shirley Abrams. His remains rest at the<br />

W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave., where the family will receive friends<br />

on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Watkins<br />

Community Chapel, 2701 Garland Ave., on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12 noon. Rev.<br />

Robert Whitehead officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. Published in the<br />

Robert Burns <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

65, died Sunday. The body was cremated. Memorial service plans will be announced by<br />

Cremation Society of Georgia. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on<br />

6/28/2005.Robert Burns <strong>Gunn</strong>, MD, Professor and former Chairman of the Physiology<br />

Department at Emory University School of Medicine died on June 26, 2005 from enteropathy<br />

type T-cell lymphoma. He was 65 years old. He is survived by his wife Sharon McClellan<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, his four children (Lora <strong>Gunn</strong>, MD, Heather <strong>Gunn</strong>, Molly <strong>Gunn</strong>, and Ian <strong>Gunn</strong>, all of<br />

Atlanta), two grandchildren (Egan and Adan <strong>Gunn</strong> Jarvis) and all three of his brothers<br />

(Ross <strong>Gunn</strong> II of <strong>New</strong>port Coast, CA, Rev. Andrew Leigh <strong>Gunn</strong> of Germantown, MD, and<br />

Charles Rowley <strong>Gunn</strong> of Potomac, MD). Dr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was the fourth son of noted scientist Ross<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> and Gladys <strong>Gunn</strong> and was born and raised in Washington, DC. Dr. <strong>Gunn</strong> received his<br />

BS in biophysics from University of Michigan in 1961 and his MD from Harvard Medical<br />

School in 1966. He married Sharon McClellan <strong>Gunn</strong> in 1963. After an internship at the Beth<br />

Israel Hospital in Boston, he served two years in the USPHS at the National Institutes of<br />

Health in Bethesda, MD. In 1969, he and his family moved to Durham, NC for a postdoctoral<br />

fellowship at Duke University with Dr. Daniel C. Tosteson, and after two years, he joined the
