Charles D. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

78, Sweetbriar Road, Orlando, Florida, died Monday, Sept. 7. 1998., Col. <strong>Gunn</strong> was retired<br />

from the Air Force. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he moved to Central Florida in 1972. He<br />

was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Orlando. He was a veteran of World War II<br />

and the Vietnam War. Survivors: wife, Fay W.; son, Stephen, Orinda.; daughter, Dana,<br />

Chazy; sister, Mary Ellen Campbell, Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren. Carey Hand<br />

Colonial Funeral Home, Orlando.<br />

Charles Douglas <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

WOOSTER -- Charles Douglas <strong>Gunn</strong>, 68, died March 2, 2008 at his home of ALS (Lou<br />

Gehrig"s Disease). He was born in Great Bend, Kansas, May 5, 1939, to Charles and<br />

Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong>. He graduated from Great Bend High School and earned a B.A. in English<br />

Literature from Kansas State University in 1961. He married Virginia Lee Railsback on<br />

August 19, 1961 in Manhattan, Kansas. He received a B.D. from Yale Divinity School in<br />

1964 and a PhD in Religious Studies from Yale University in 1969. He taught history of<br />

religions at Syracuse University from 1969 to 1971, and at the College of Wooster from<br />

1971 to 1975. Following his teaching career, he established his own rare and out-of-print<br />

book business, operating the Rowsburg Bookstore, as well as an Internet sales presence,<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>Books. Doug was active in the Boy Scout movement in Wooster as Scoutmaster of<br />

Troop 62. He was a member of the Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (NOBS), edited their<br />

newsletter for several years, and was honored by being named a Fellow of the Book. He<br />

served as president of the Friends of Ashland University Library and was a longtime<br />

enthusiastic supporter of the AAUW book sale. He was a member of the Century Club and<br />

of Trinity United Church of Christ. Most recently, he served as CEO of his breakfast club.<br />

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Wooster; son, Eric <strong>Gunn</strong> of Athens, Ohio, son and<br />

daughter-in-law, Peter and Mariela <strong>Gunn</strong> of Auburn Hills, Michigan; and his mother,<br />

Elizabeth in Kansas. His father, Charles and a daughter, Lucy Elizabeth, preceded him in<br />

death. His life was blessed and enriched by his family and the wonderful friends he met<br />

and enjoyed in all his educational, professional, avocational, and community endeavors. A<br />

memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the McIntire, Davis and Greene<br />

Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 3 p.m., with the<br />

Rev. Diane Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Those<br />

who wish may make contributions to the charity of the donor"s choice in his memory.<br />

Charles Dudley <strong>Gunn</strong> Lowell, IN Charles Dudley <strong>Gunn</strong>, age 73 of Lowell, IN, passed away<br />

Saturday, January 28, 2006 at St. Anthony"s Hospital in Crown Point, Indiana. He is<br />

survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Ballas <strong>Gunn</strong> of Lowell, IN; son, Mike (Dawn) <strong>Gunn</strong>;<br />

grandsons: Tim <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jim (Christy) Burgess; stepsons: Larry, Leonard and Louie Ballas;<br />

stepdaughters: Lyn (Danny) Hall, Lori (Jeff) Powers, Leann, Tracy Kesler, Lisa (Lyndon)
