always cheerful and jolly. He was a member of the 17thTennessee Regiment C. S. A., until<br />

that regiment was consolidated with the 27th. He was captured at Chicamauga and taken<br />

to prison at Rock Island, Ill., where he was kept for 18 months. The funeral services of the<br />

deceased was conduct4d by Rev. Oaks, at Bethany. The test was one which Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> had<br />

selected three years ago and is found in St. John 14: 1-3. The family wishes to thank the<br />

friends and neighbors for the many kind favors during the illness of the departed one.<br />

James Grady <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

79 retired - Bryson City, NC -- James Grady <strong>Gunn</strong>, 79, retired, died March 14, 1995, at his<br />

home. A native of Georgia, he was a former resident of Ocala for many years. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

also lived in Vero Beach before moving to North Carolina 25 years ago. He was a member<br />

of the International Union of Bricklayers and the Allied Craftsmen of Pompano Beach. Mr.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Doris W.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, Bryson City; daughters, Barbara Munch, Vero Beach, and Etheleen McCutcheon,<br />

Bryson City; brother, Herbert <strong>Gunn</strong>, Florida; sisters, Kit Imler, Santa Fe, Ethel Loria,<br />

Madison, N.J., Ruth Weire, Texas, Bertie Hill and Grace Howard, both of Ocala; seven<br />

grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Bill Moody Funeral Home, Bryson City, is<br />

handling arrangements.<br />

James <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

Montgomery Alabama Native, Dies Funeral services for James Jeff <strong>Gunn</strong>, 61, of<br />

Brookhaven, Pa., were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Methodist Church near<br />

here. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of<br />

Winnfield. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> died Wednesday, June 2, 1976 in Philadelphia, Pa., after a sudden<br />

illness. He was an employee of Gulf Oil Refinging Co., a native of Montgomery, and a<br />

Methodist. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jeff <strong>Gunn</strong> of Philadelphia, Pa.; two<br />

daughters, Mrs. Maxine MacCauley and Madeline <strong>Gunn</strong>, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; one<br />

son, James <strong>Gunn</strong> of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Murrel <strong>Gunn</strong> of Montgomery; two<br />

James Baird <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

of Lantana, Florida died peacefully April 12, 1996. He was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on<br />

March 17, 1925 to Francis Baird and Irene <strong>Gunn</strong>. He lived his early life in Jacksonville and<br />

joined the Marine Corps at age 17. He served in the South Pacific during World War II<br />

and saw active duty with the 6th Marine Division. He returned to Jacksonville and<br />

graduated from Illinois College with a BA in Economics. He moved to Lantana with his<br />

wife in 1962. He owned and operated Viking Cleaners for 10 years, and later was a Real<br />

Estate Broker. For the last 13 years he was employed by the Cove Condominium retiring in<br />

1995. He served on the Lantana Civil Service Board and the Lantana Chamber of<br />

Commerce. He was a member of the VFW Post 3588 and a 32nd degree Mason of the<br />

Boynton Beach Masonic Lodge #236 F. & A.M. He will be dearly missed by his wife Nancy,<br />

daughter Karen, son-in-law Greg, granddaughter Savannah Whetsell, sisters Dorothy<br />

(Walter) Peura and Frances (John) Stencil, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral
