Annie <strong>Gunn</strong> Herring<br />

Commercial Appeal, The (Memphis, TN) - November 29, 1997 - Annie <strong>Gunn</strong> Herring, 93,<br />

retired teacher with Tunica County Schools, died of chronic pulmonary disease Friday at<br />

her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home here with burial in<br />

Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sardis. Mrs.<br />

Herring, the widow of Les Herring, leaves a sister, Rose Taylor of Jackson, a<br />

granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any<br />

memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.<br />

Annie <strong>Gunn</strong> Andrews Cole<br />

passed away Friday, December 29, 2006. Born in Blackstone, Va. in 1918, she was the<br />

daughter of the late Harry R. and Annie Crowder <strong>Gunn</strong>. Annie lived most of her adult live<br />

in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. She resided in Burkeville from 1975 until 2000, when she<br />

moved into an assisted living facility at Virginia Beach. She was a member of Burkeville<br />

Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Cole; and infant baby boy;<br />

her sister, Charlotte <strong>New</strong>comb; and her brothers, Harry <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr., Trinkle <strong>Gunn</strong>, James<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> and Archie <strong>Gunn</strong>. Annie is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Martinette and<br />

husband, Thomas; their three children, Kimberly Ives and husband, Robert of Virginia<br />

Beach, Thomas Martinette Jr. and wife, Catherine of South Boston, and Kevin Martinette;<br />

two great-grandchildren, Angela and Ethan Ives of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Franklin<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Crewe and Bryant <strong>Gunn</strong> of Norfolk; four sisters, Marguerite Nicholas of<br />

Lynchburg, Cecile Millner and husband, Jesse of <strong>New</strong>port <strong>New</strong>s, Janie Ashworth of<br />

Victoria, and Barbara Hudgins of Crewe. The family will receive friends and relatives from<br />

7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3 at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe.<br />

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 4 at Burkeville Baptist Church,<br />

where family will also receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Sunset<br />

Hill Cemetery, Burkeville. Donations may be made to Burkeville Baptist Church.<br />
