Margaret <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

86, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at her home after a short<br />

illness. She was born December 11, 1919 in Topeka, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl<br />

Hopkins. Margaret was raised and grew up in Reading, Kansas along with her siblings and<br />

was a 1936 graduate of Reading High School. She moved to Topeka in 1937 and attended<br />

Stricklers Business School. She went to work for the V.A. Hospital where she met her<br />

husband, Glenn N. <strong>Gunn</strong>. They were married on April 27, 1947 in Reading, Kansas. She<br />

was a legal secretary for several years and worked for USD 501 for 11 years, retiring in<br />

1975. She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church and was an avid reader.<br />

She was fond of knitting, helping in the church library, and volunteering in many church<br />

activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in July of 2000, a son Robert<br />

Lynn in May, 1964, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Gwenda<br />

Wilcox and her husband James; two sons, Glenn N. <strong>Gunn</strong> and Thomas <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife<br />

Judy, all of Topeka; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and<br />

nephews. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Monday, December 19 at Penwell-Gabel<br />

Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening.<br />

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 20 at the funeral home with<br />

burial to follow at 2:30 pm that afternoon in the Reading Cemetery in Reading, Kansas.<br />

Margaret <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Mrs. Margaret Ann <strong>Gunn</strong>, 79, Carthage, died Sunday June 11, 1978, at Keokuk Area East<br />

Hospital Sunday at 12:30 p.m.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the<br />

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Weishar officiating. Burial<br />

will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until<br />

the time of services. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Neiser<br />

Funeral Home in Carthage. Pallbearers will be Michael <strong>Gunn</strong>, Earl Hopkins, Gail<br />

Hopkins, Edward Markey, Stephen Markey, and Ronald Martens. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born<br />

Sept. 6, 1898 in Wakonda, S.D., the daughter of Thomas and Winifred Sharkey Buckley.<br />

She married Lawrence M. <strong>Gunn</strong> on Oct. 18, 1920 at Sioux City, Iowa.She is survived by<br />

two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Evelyn) Markey, Hamilton, and Mrs. George (Loraine) Hopkins,<br />

Williamstown, Mo.; two sons, Everett of Carthage and Philip of Mesa, Ariz.; 27<br />

grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also, one sister, Mrs. E. M. (Mary E.) Boos of<br />

Huntington Park, Calif. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.<br />

Margaret <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

84, died in a Corpus Christi hospital on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, following a short illness.<br />

Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born on Aug. 4, 1921, in Skiatook, Okla., to James and May Bell (Gordon)<br />

Long. She was an office manager for Southwestern Bell in Mathis. She was preceded in<br />

death by her parents; and her husband, Charles J. <strong>Gunn</strong>, on June 13, 1981. Survivors<br />

include one daughter, Connie (Billy) Bruce of Three Rivers; three granddaughters, Debbie<br />

(David) Van Cleave, Tammy (Pat) Copeland and Sharon Saenz, all of Three Rivers; and six
