Lois <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

OWASA, Iowa — Funeral services for Mrs. Lois <strong>Gunn</strong>, 65, were held Monday from the Owasa<br />

Methodist church with Rev. Dewey Lamprechl and Robert Baker officiating. Burial was in<br />

the Khiora cemetery. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> died at her home near Owasa Aug. 8, 1963 after a long<br />

illness. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born Lois Rebecca Cross, daughter of George and Ada Hayclen Cross,<br />

on Nov. 6, 1897 on a farm northwest of Steamboat Rock. When four months old she moved<br />

with her parents to the home farm south of Berlin. She attended country school, Eldora high<br />

school Ellsworth College and taught schools in the and the county. On March 10, 1920 she<br />

married Ernest A. <strong>Gunn</strong> at Eldora and the couple moved to the <strong>Gunn</strong> farm where she lived<br />

the remainder of her life. Survivors are three children, 10 grandchildren and one sister. The<br />

children are Mrs Donald (Verjean) Arends of Ackley. Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Petty of Eldora,<br />

and John, at home. The sister is Mrs. Florence Northrup of Eldora. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was preceded<br />

in death by her parents, her husband on Jan. 4,1933, and a son, Marlyn, who died at age four.<br />

Lois <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

GUNN Lois Carter Caver <strong>Gunn</strong>, age 86, went to be with the Lord Saturday January 8, 2000<br />

at Lutheran Village. Born in Little Rock, Ark. Member of Second Baptist Church. Teacher<br />

in Cleveland and Columbus, Oh. Lois was a loving, kind, gentle soul who sang, played piano<br />

and wrote gospel songs. Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Life long civic activist.<br />

Preceded in death by husband of 55 years, Archie F. <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr., daughter Meryl Yvonne <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

parents Robert and Sophia Caver, brother Robert Morris Caver, sister Augusta Smith.<br />

Survived by son, Archie F. (Patricia) <strong>Gunn</strong> III; grandchildren, Varina, Alexia, Francesca,<br />

Zackery and Xavier <strong>Gunn</strong>, all of <strong>New</strong>port, Rhode Island; sisters, Ruth Avery and Grace<br />

Alexander of Cleveland, Oh., Freda Clinton of Mich.; fostor daughter, Madeline Ruff; many<br />

nieces, nephews and friends. Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2000, Second<br />

Baptist Church, 186 N. 17th St. Rev. David Carter officiating. Family will receive friends 2-4<br />

and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday January 12, 2000, GARY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2154 E. Main St.,<br />

Bexley. and Thursday 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial Green Lawn Cemetery.<br />

Lois Evelyn <strong>Gunn</strong> Stepp Bowman<br />

77, Noblesville, Ind. died Dec. 13, 2002.. She worked 18 years for Delco Remy Division of<br />

General Motors Corp., Anderson, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Cicero United<br />

Methodist Church and the Cicero chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Memorial<br />

contributions may be made to the Alzheimer"s Association. Services: 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in<br />

Hartley Funeral Homes, Cicero Chapel, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 15. Burial: Carey<br />

Cemetery, near Noblesville. She was the widow of Robert A. Stepp and William Bowman.<br />

Survivors: daughter Vicki Sue Reveal brother Orval <strong>Gunn</strong> three grandchildren a greatgrandchild.<br />

Lois M. <strong>Gunn</strong> Dowdy Dunaway<br />

96, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents,<br />

Williard J. and Mattie Crowder <strong>Gunn</strong>;her husband, Otho P. Dunaway Sr.;and her<br />

granddaughter, Joyce Elizabeth Stewart. Surviving are her children, Lois D. Smith of Broken<br />

Arrow, Okla., Charlotte Dowdy-Rhoad (Stan) of Winterville, N.C., Ruth D. "Betty" Stewart
