Florence Evelyn (<strong>Gunn</strong>) Snow, 98, of Wellfleet, Massachusettes died in her home, Monday,<br />

August 9, 2010. She was the wife of the late Howard Snow. Born in Brighton to the late<br />

Ernest and Charlotte <strong>Gunn</strong>, she was raised in Belmont where she graduated from Belmont<br />

High School and Burrough's Business School. She worked at a Waltham Nursing Home.<br />

She married Corporal Howard Snow in 1943 in Salinas, CA, where he was stationed. After<br />

they were married, she moved to Wellfleet where she worked on with him on the oyster<br />

beds and raised flowers for sale while she was raising her children. She was affiliated with<br />

the Wellfleet United Methodist Church. She leaves her daughter, Barbara Murphy and<br />

son-in-law Russell Murphy; three grandchildren, Laura Young, Felicia Benton, and<br />

Russell Murphy, JR.; seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she is<br />

predeceased by her daughter, Judith Graves and son, John Snow. A Graveside service will<br />

be held Monday, August 16th at 10AM in Oakdale Cemetery in Wellfleet. Donations may<br />

be made to the Wellfleet United Methodist Church, PO Box 1451, Wellfleet, MA 02667.<br />

Arrangements under the direction of Nickerson Funeral Home, Wellfleet, MA.<br />

Florence Jane <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

March 10, 1926 ~ May 28, 2005 - Florence was born on March 10, 1926 to Robert and Leah<br />

Taylor in Fairmont, West Virginia. She attended school in Fairmont. She has been a<br />

resident of the Merced and Atwater California area since 1954. The Lord took her from us<br />

on May 28, 2005. She was a loving and devoted wife of Otis <strong>Gunn</strong> for 59 years. Florence<br />

was known for her very excellent cooking, especially during the holidays. She also excelled<br />

in needlework and ce- ramics. She was a very sweet woman with a generous heart, she<br />

would always rather give than receive. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and<br />

loved her. May she rest in peace with the Lord. Florence was preceded in death by her son<br />

Otis <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr. Florence is survived by her husband Otis <strong>Gunn</strong> of Atwater, CA. her three<br />

daughters Sharon Wright of Goose Creek, SC, Karen Montgomery of San Rafael, CA and<br />

Ida Marie Fontana of Atwater, CA, and her son-in-law Louie Fontana of Atwater, CA. She<br />

also leaves behind 2 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 4 great grand- children.<br />

Internment arrangements are being conducted by The Neptune Society. There will be no<br />

funeral at her request.<br />

Florence <strong>Gunn</strong> Arnold<br />

passed away on March 15, 2009 at Scripps Hospital. Florence was a member of a pioneer<br />

California family. Her father Chester D. <strong>Gunn</strong> was coroner of San Diego. Her grandfather<br />

Chester <strong>Gunn</strong> was owner of one of the first apple orchards in Julian and ran a pony<br />

express mail service from San Diego to Julian. Her great uncle Douglas <strong>Gunn</strong> was<br />

publisher of The San Diego Union and mayor of San Diego. Born in Vista in 1920, Florence<br />

graduated from Hoover High School. She married Mott Hunton Arnold in 1944. Florence<br />

was a stenographer during World War II and later an escrow officer for Security Pacific<br />

Bank. Florence was active in many civic causes. She was also a big fan of the Padres.<br />

Florence is survived by her niece Emily Sommer, her nephew Doug Sommer and his wife<br />

Sue. She will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 1st at
