Margaret Jane (Stenhouse) <strong>Gunn</strong>, she later changed her name to Marjory Douglas Crane.<br />

She was adopted by a missionary on July 11, 1922. As a child, Mrs. Smits traveled the<br />

world and lived in China, where she picnicked on the Great Wall of China. On June 19,<br />

1930, she married Raymond C. Smits in Elm Grove, Wis. He is deceased. Survivors are a<br />

daughter, Margie Stuht of Madison, Wis.; a son-in-law, Jim Wright of Greeley; four<br />

grandchildren, Nicole Meyer and Andrea Wright, both of Greeley, Andrew Stuht of<br />

Madison and Analiese Stuht of Minneapolis; and a great-grandson, Weston Eric Meyer.<br />

Her parents, a son, a daughter and a grandson are deceased.. Services will be conducted in<br />

Wisconsin.<br />

Jesse <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

died at his residence near Fredonia in Chambers County, Alabama in the 74th year of his<br />

age. He was born in what was formerly Caswell, now Person County, in the state of North<br />

Carolina on the 22nd of November 1779. He united to the Baptist Church of Christ at<br />

Sargon Creek in Morgan County, Georgia on Oct 18, 1831. He died of a disease of the heart<br />

after a protracted illness of 18 months. Published 12-23-1853 - Western Baptist<br />

Jesse <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Death of Wife of Former Butler CitizenThe many friends of Mr. Jesse <strong>Gunn</strong>, formerly of<br />

this place, will regret to learn of the death of his wife which occurred at their home at<br />

Savannah Sunday. The deceased was 36 years old, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Cobb<br />

of Americus, Georgia. Her remains were interred Monday in the cemetery at Americus.<br />

Besides her husband Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by three small children, one brother and five<br />

Rev. Jesse <strong>Gunn</strong> EARLINGTON -- The Rev. Jesse Carlos "J.C." <strong>Gunn</strong>, 87, died Tuesday,<br />

Jan. 6, 2004, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was a Missionary<br />

Baptist minister and member of the United Baptist Church in Madisonville. Surviving are<br />

a daughter, Yvonne Foster; three sisters, Louise Provance, Juanita Burke and Teenie<br />

Davis; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services 11 a.m. Saturday at<br />

Reid-Walters Funeral Home, burial in Salem Memorial Gardens in Mortons, Gap.<br />

Jesse Ray <strong>Gunn</strong> Sr.,<br />

October 11, 1994 - Columbus Ledger - Jesse Ray <strong>Gunn</strong>, 86, of Columbus, Georgia, died<br />

Sunday at Douglas General Hospital, Douglasville, Ga. The funeral will be 10 a.m.<br />

Wednesday at Whitley Garner Funeral Home, Douglasville, with burial 3 p.m. in Parkhill<br />

Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was<br />

born May 30, 1908, in Ashland, Ala. He graduated from Berry Academy in 1930 and Berry<br />

College in 1934, and was active in the Berry Alumni Association. He retired as a teacher at<br />

Eddy Junior High in Columbus, and later was postmaster in Upatoi. Survivors include a<br />

daughter, Martha Mullinix; a son, Jesse Ray <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr., addresses not available; and three<br />

grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the Berry College Alumni Fund,<br />

Mount Berry, Ga. 30149.
