Frank Gunn, a well known citizen of the Cedar Hill vicinity died in Nashville Tennessee at
the "Little Sisters of the Poor" Thursday evening; his remains were interred at Elmwood
Cemetery. Father Dillon of Nashville conducted the burial services. He had been in ill
health for several months. Frank was 59 years of age and is survived by a daughter Miss
Dome Gunn who resides in Nashville. His death is regretted by many friends. Robertson
County Tennessee Times, published on May 14, 1925.
Frank Gunn,
52, a Brunswick, Mo., carpenter, died of a gunshot wound inflicted about 4 o'clock
yesterday afternoon when his .22- gauge rifle discharged as he was placing it in the back of
his pickup truck'. The bullet was imbedded in his right side about an inch below the navel.
Although no one saw the accident, which occurred 1 ½ miles northwest of Brunswick, the
coroner, Dr. H. B. Garnett of Keytesville, pronounced death accidental upon testimony of
persons who passed the truck before and after Gunn died. A short time before Gunn's
lifeless body was found in the cab of the truck, which had run off the road into a field, he
was seen by Chester Watkins and Oma . Lentz of Brunswick attempting to drive the truck
from a ditch. They pushed the truck out, drove around it and called to ask Gunn if he
could make it from there. He merely nodded, the men told Coroner Garnett, and they said
it is now their belief that he already had sustained the wound. Within a few minutes after
that incident, Mr. and Mrs. John Carson of Brunswick, driving, to their farm, noticed the
truck in the field with Mr. Gunn sitting in the cab. John Relford, following them to assist in
their farm work, - also noticed the truck. The three, discussing it after their arrival at the
Carson farm ,became disturbed and drove, back to investigate, finding the body lifeless but
still warm. The rifle was found in the bed of the truck with one spent shell. The Carsons
and Relford estimated 30 minutes had passed since they first saw the truck in the field.
Upon testimony by Watkins, Lentz, Mr. and Mrs. Carson and Relford, it was decided by
Coroner Garnett that Gunn had attempted to drive to Brunswick for medical attention,
but, weak from the wound and loss of blood,, had lost control of the truck. Mr. Gunn was
born at Reger, Mo., but had lived in and near Brunswick almost his entire life. He is
survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. John Gunn; two brothers, Omar and Willis Gunn;
and a sister, Mrs. Eugene Meyer, all of Brunswick. Funeral services will be held tomorrow
afternoon in . First Christian Church in Brunswick by the pastor, the Rev. Carl Vissering.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at DeWitt, Mo
