91-OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Essie <strong>My</strong>rle <strong>Gunn</strong>, 91, died Monday at PersonaCare at<br />

Hermitage. She and her husband were former owners and operators of <strong>Gunn</strong>"s Grocery.<br />

he was a Baptist. She was a member of Moose Ladies" Auxiliary.Surviving are a daughter,<br />

Wanda Libs of Owensboro; a sister, Lillian <strong>New</strong>ton of Owensboro; three grandchildren,<br />

four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Her husband, Wallace E., died in<br />

1962. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Memorial Chapel, with<br />

burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.<br />

to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to<br />

Senior Ramblers c/o Elizabeth Mundy Center.<br />

REIDS VILLE, N. C.—Funeral rites and burial were to be held at Prospect Methodist<br />

Church this afternoon for Mrs. Essie Page <strong>Gunn</strong>, 71, who died at the home of her daughter,<br />

Mrs. L. O, Daniels of Blanch Ut. 1. She was a native of Caswell Co., she was the daughter<br />

of the late Bedford and Susan <strong>Gunn</strong> Page. Her husband, Thomas E. <strong>Gunn</strong>, died 16 years<br />

ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Daniels, Mrs. Roy Jones, of Pelham and Miss<br />

Nettie. <strong>Gunn</strong>, of Blanch, Rt. 1. four sons, Allen, Willie, Tommy and Sterling, all of<br />

Reidsville, two brothers, Willard Page of Reidsville, and Steven Page, of Ruffin, five sisters,<br />

Mrs. Manaiza Rice, Mrs. R. H. Vaughn, Mrs. F. A. Dicks, all of Danville, Mrs. Mattie<br />

Wellington, of Yanceyville, Mrs. Mamie Nethery Madison and 10 grandchildren. Published<br />

Ester <strong>Gunn</strong> Strickland<br />

Ester Strickland, 72, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, in<br />

Corsicana. She was born on Sept. 12, 1936, in Purdon to Dwain and Grace (Young) <strong>Gunn</strong>.<br />

Mrs. Strickland was a retired LVN. There are no services scheduled for Mrs. Strickland at<br />

this time. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Abundis and Kathy Brown, both of<br />

Baytown; mother, Bessie Tisdale of Rice; sister, Marjorie Estes of Rice; brother, Bobby<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Whitney; daughter-in-law, Sandy Strickland of Baytown; four grandchildren,<br />

Kayla and Joshua Abundis, Candace Strickland, and Rachel Brown, all of Baytown. Mrs.<br />

Strickland was preceded in death by her father, Dwain <strong>Gunn</strong>; husband, Walter O.<br />
