Billy Joe <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Services for Billy Joe <strong>Gunn</strong> of Rockwall, a retired supervisory technician for Texas<br />

Instruments, were held May 28 at Daingerfield Church of Christ in Daingerfield, Texas.<br />

Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 66, died of cancer May 24 at his home. "He was well-loved and will be missed<br />

sorely," said his wife, Edna <strong>Gunn</strong>. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> enjoyed woodworking and liked to travel,<br />

Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> said. "But the grandkids, Brandon and Franklin [<strong>Gunn</strong>], were his main<br />

attention," she said. Other survivors include two sons, Billy Arthur "Artie" <strong>Gunn</strong> of<br />

Linden, Texas, and Paul <strong>Gunn</strong> of Rockwall; a daughter, Kathy <strong>Gunn</strong> of Dallas; two<br />

brothers, Leon <strong>Gunn</strong> of Pittsburg, Texas, and Roy <strong>Gunn</strong> of Gainesville, Texas; and two<br />

sisters, Mary Otis Stevens and Clara Mae Rich, both of Fort Worth. - Dallas Morning Star<br />

69, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. (Ott & Lee,<br />

Forest, 601-469-3412). Published in the Clarion Ledger on 6/15/2007. Lena,<br />

Mississippi—Mr. Billy Ray <strong>Gunn</strong>, 69, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at MS Baptist<br />

Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007, at<br />

Cash Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. M.L. Wallace officiated. Ott<br />

& Lee Funeral Home in Forest handled arrangements<br />

Birdie <strong>Gunn</strong> Burleson<br />

December 21, 2003, Birdie Burleson of Bryan, Texas, passed away Friday at St. Joseph<br />

Regional Hospital at the age of 98. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22 from<br />

noon till 2:00 P.M. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 P.M. following the visitation on<br />

Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Huntsville. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn<br />

Cemetery. Birdie Burleson was an exceedingly generous and loving woman. She was born<br />

at Wolf's Crossing near Kingsland, Texas, December 11, 1905 to wonderful parents,<br />

Francis Littleton <strong>Gunn</strong> and Cena Laura Ricketson <strong>Gunn</strong>. Her husband, Dr. Jesse Burleson<br />

was head of the Foreign Language Department at Sam Houston State University. She<br />

taught science for many years in Huntsville where they lived for fifty years. Birdie and<br />

Jesse organized a field school in Puebla, Mexico, for SHSU students. Birdie loved talking,<br />

quilting, painting, Mexico, cooking, travel, nature and science. She had an incredibly keen<br />

sense of humor and made wonderful buttermilk and pecan pies. She was a great friend and<br />

will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She and Jesse enabled and assisted the<br />

education of many member of their families and friends. Their home was a dormitory for<br />

many years. Birdie was survived by five sisters, Zola Knowles of Bryan, LaRhesa McNair<br />

of Bryan, Oleta Smith of Huntsville, Mary House of Bryan, Hazel Jackson of San Antonio;<br />

one brother, Floyd <strong>Gunn</strong> of Bryan; one son, Glynn Burleson of Shepherd; three<br />

grandsons,Edward Burleson of Dallas, David Burleson of Dallas and another Edward<br />

Burleson of Houston; one granddaughter, Katy Hunt of Houston; two great<br />

granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her<br />

husband Jesse Burleson, her son Charles Burleson, and her brothers Roy <strong>Gunn</strong>, Ralph<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> (John and Susan <strong>Gunn</strong> of Robeson County, NC desc)<br />
