Frances Adrienne <strong>Gunn</strong> Neil<br />

April 12, 1934, Kinmundy, IL: - - Frances Adrienne, daughter of John Carrol and Caroline<br />

WILLIAMS GUNN, was born Sept. 23, 1852 at Richview, Ill., was married to William<br />

Walter NEIL of Kinmundy, Ill. Dec. 24, 1874, and died April 5, 1934, while in St.<br />

Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, Ill. Her love of books, music and the drama, made her a<br />

most entertaining hostess. She was skilled in the art of elocution, and the work she loved<br />

best was as a teacher of this art. Many of her students took first place in dramatic readings.<br />

Into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil came a daughter, an only child, Charlotta Adrienne,<br />

now Mrs. Heinrich. On Jan. 10, 1895, a wee baby, a grandson, Xon Harlan, came into the<br />

home. Xon was religiously inclined from childhood and it was thru him, Mrs. Neil united<br />

with the M.E. Church.<br />

Frances Edith <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

died Sept. 24, 2000, at age 89 in Portland, Oregon. . A private cryptside service was held.<br />

Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born Sept. 18, 1911, in Canon City, Colo. Her maiden name was Haines.<br />

She moved to Portland in 1940 and was a bookkeeper for Drs. Vernon Summers and<br />

"Red" Irvin for more than 20 years before her retirement in 1975, when she moved to<br />

Seaside. She was a member of North Coast Family Fellowship. In 1931, she married<br />

Howard <strong>Gunn</strong>; he died in 1968. Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Spear; sister,<br />

Gertrude Nix; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Interment is in Valley<br />

Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hillsboro. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite<br />

charity. Arrangements are by Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside.<br />

Frances Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong> McLean<br />

Odessa, Texas - Frances Elizabeth “Dee” <strong>Gunn</strong> MacLean passed away on Tuesday, June 9,<br />

2010, after a short illness. She was 94 years old. She was preceded in death by her<br />

husband, Colin M. ‘Mac’ MacLean; parents, Albert and Zula <strong>Gunn</strong>; mother-in-law,<br />

Catherine MacLean; beloved aunt, Nettie Covey; brother, Ewing and wife Blanche <strong>Gunn</strong>;<br />

sister, Inez; sister, Verna and husband Dick Brown; sister, Vivian; sister, Felton and<br />

husband Jack Pope; sister, Isabelle and husband Olin Hardy; brother, Horace and wife<br />

Marjorie <strong>Gunn</strong>; and sister-in-law, Alice MacLean Shallat. She is survived by four<br />

children, Nancy A. Berry of Albuquerque, N.M., Orman D. Darby and wife Frances of Sun<br />

City, Ariz., John M. Hayner and wife Drew of Hunt, Texas, and Elizabeth MacLean<br />

Huston and husband James of Glendale, Ariz.; also grandchildren, John Winston Darby<br />

and wife Gina of Everett, Wash., along with their children, Sean, Mollie and son Hayden,<br />

Monica and husband Tony, all of Washington state, Wendy Sue Hayner and daughter,<br />

Skyler of Denver, Colo., John Colin Huston, Shelby Elizabeth Huston and Jason Cory<br />

Huston, of Glendale, Ariz. She also had many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and<br />

great-nephews. Frances was born and raised in Oak Grove, Titus County, in East Texas on<br />

Jan. 1, 1916, and was always a fearless free spirit and adventurer at heart. She remained<br />

loyal to Oak Grove throughout her life, and she had many stories to share from her<br />

childhood on the <strong>Gunn</strong> farm. Frances was proud of her service during WWII as a civilian<br />

employee of the Eighth Service Command, Judge Advocate’s Office. She also worked in
