Tuftonboro, NH, formerly of Randolph, March 14, 2007. Beloved husband of Pearl A.<br />

(Schaaf) <strong>Gunn</strong>. Loving father of George F. <strong>Gunn</strong> III, Douglas W. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Sandra A. Babalis<br />

and Daniel F. <strong>Gunn</strong>. Devoted brother of Audrey L. (<strong>Gunn</strong>) Colcord. Son of the late George<br />

F. and Beatrice (Jordan) <strong>Gunn</strong>. Dear grandfather of Douglas, Benjamin, Margaret,<br />

Christian, Steven, Alexander, Courtney, and Caitlin. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral<br />

Home, 419 No. Main Street, (Rte 28) RANDOLPH. A Funeral Service will be held Monday<br />

at 10:00 AM in St. Chrysostom Church, 1 Linden Street, Quincy. Relatives and friends are<br />

George Gregory <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

George Gregory Architect, died peacefully on August 14, while being treated for a long<br />

term illness at Barnes Jewish Extended Care. He was 83. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born February 17,<br />

1927 in Versailles, Missouri to Aubrey Jackson <strong>Gunn</strong>, MD and Alma Clodfelter <strong>Gunn</strong>. He<br />

was predeceased by a sister Martha <strong>Gunn</strong> and brother Jack <strong>Gunn</strong>, MD. Gregory <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

was from four generations of medical doctors in Versailles. <strong>Gunn</strong>'s great-greatgrandfather,<br />

Street Thruston, was appointed by the first County Court of Versailles to<br />

locate a county seat. He recommended in 1835, the site where Versailles stands at present.<br />

Following the family legacy, <strong>Gunn</strong> studied Pre-medicine at the University of Missouri,<br />

Columbia, however felt as though his calling was in architecture. He subsequently enrolled<br />

in the School of Architecture at the University of Kansas where he graduated in 1954.<br />

Included in his studies at the University of Kansas were studies abroad at the Ecoles D'Art<br />

Armericaines, Fountainbleu, France. <strong>Gunn</strong> began his career in Jacksonville, Florida where<br />

he designed several international style houses. During the early 1960s <strong>Gunn</strong> decided to<br />

move to St. Louis where he gained employment at HOK. He soon founded his own firm<br />

Gregory <strong>Gunn</strong>, Architects in the historic Wainwright building in downtown St. Louis<br />

where he applied his love of early 20th century modernist Architecture on residential and<br />

commercial projects. In 1985 Brian Smith was employed as a draftsman at Gregory <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

Architects which was then located in the Dogtown neighborhood. In 1987 Smith was made<br />

an associate and partner. The firm's name changed to <strong>Gunn</strong> and Smith Architects in<br />

October 1993 once Smith became a registered architect. <strong>Gunn</strong> retired from the practice in<br />

1997. Services: The body was cremated and will be buried in his home town of Versailles,<br />

Missouri. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by many friends and family. Contributions may be made to the<br />

Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, which was designed by <strong>Gunn</strong> and Smith Architects:<br />
