Reidsville Review (NC) July 3, 1967 - Funeral services for Mrs. Nelle Burton <strong>Gunn</strong> of Rt. 4,<br />

Reidsville, who was dead upon arrival at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital at 9:30 Saturday<br />

morning following a heart attack suffered at her home, were held at 11 a.m. Monday from<br />

Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. W. Swisher and the Rev. Roy<br />

Bell. Interment was in Wentworth Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were David<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, Calvin <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jesse Burton, Franklin Shreve, John Flynn and Nelson <strong>Gunn</strong>.<br />

Flowerbearers were friends and relatives of the deceased. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was the former Nelle<br />

Burton, daughter of the late John M. and Emma Amos Burton. She was the wife of the late<br />

Alvin E. <strong>Gunn</strong> who died in 1965. She was a native of Rockingham County and had lived in<br />

the Wentworth Community for the past several years. She was a member of Wentworth<br />

Methodist Church. She is survivied by three sons, Walter and Lawrence <strong>Gunn</strong> of Rt. 4,<br />

Reidsville, and Ralph <strong>Gunn</strong> of Indianapolis, Ind.: one daughter, Mrs. Charles Reeves of<br />

Route 2, Garland; three Charles Burton, all of Rt. 3, Reidsville; one sister, Miss Lettie<br />

Burton of Reidsville; and several grandchildren.<br />

Thursday Church of Latter Day Saints-Catawba Ward; Interment Forest Hills Cemetery;<br />

Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.<br />

Mrs. Nellie <strong>Gunn</strong> 65, wife of John Garfield <strong>Gunn</strong> died at l: p.m. Friday May<br />

12. 1967. Friends may call at the Jesse G. Crunkleton Funeral Home 215 Grant from 2 to 4<br />

and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A private service will he conducted at the funeral home at 1 p.m.<br />

Monday. Burial will he in Graceland Cemetery.<strong>New</strong> Castle, Pa.<br />

Nellie F. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Nellie <strong>Gunn</strong> of Stamford, Vt., wife of Thomas F. <strong>Gunn</strong>, died yesterday morning Friday, May<br />

21, 1925, at Saranac Lake, N. Y., of complications. She has been in poor health for some time<br />

and recently went to Saranac lake in the hope that her condition might be bettered. The news<br />

of her death was received with general regret by her many friends all through this district.<br />

Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> -was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, William Dorty. She was born in Oklahoma,<br />

but went with her parents to Mt. Carroll, Ill when a child and there she made her home until<br />

eight years ago when she was married to Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> and came to live in Stamford, Vt. She<br />

was a home-loving -woman, industrious and well liked by all who knew her. Since going to<br />

live in Stamford, she had made many friends and her passing will be keenly felt. Besides her<br />

husband, she Is survived by her father, who now makes his home in Seattle, Washington. She<br />

also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Charles Paul and Mrs. Lottie Muller, both, of Chicago, Ill, and<br />

Miss Ida Dorty ot Stamford, Vt., and one brother, Frank Dorty, also of Stamford. The body<br />

was taken this afternoon to Mt. Carroll, Illinois, for burial. Funeral services will be held<br />

there on Sunday afternoon and burial will be In the family lot In Mt. Carroll Cemetery
