John H. Powers. Died on February 22, 2013 at age 95. Carolyn attended St. Ann's<br />

Elementary School, and Gloucester High School, graduating in 1934. She graduated from<br />

Salem State Teacher's College in 1937. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in<br />

Education from Boston University in 1942 and a Master's Degree of Science in Education<br />

from Southern Connecticut State College in 1967/1968. Carolyn taught school at the<br />

Maplewood Elementary School, Gloucester, Massachusetts from 1937 to 1944 and the<br />

Essex Elementary School in Essex, Connecticut from 1967 to 1978. Carolyn joined the U.S.<br />

Coast Guard serving as a Spar during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Carolyn was<br />

married to Robert J. Klestinec of the U.S. Coast Guard who predeceased her, and to<br />

Gilman C. <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr. of Groton, Connecticut, who also predeceased her. Carolyn owned<br />

and operated an antiques shop, OPUS I Antiques in Stonington Connecticut from 1978 to<br />

1994 and later, The Alcove Antiques in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Carolyn is predeceased by<br />

a daughter, Mary V. Klestinec. Her daughter, Margo Crump, resides in South Boston,<br />

Massachusetts. Carolyn is predeceased by three brothers, John H. Powers, Dr. Walter J.<br />

Powers, Dr. Francis B. Powers, and four sisters, Catherine Powers, Isabelle Evans,<br />

Veronica Wolfe and Priscilla Harting. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.<br />

ARRANGEMENTS: Interment will be at Union Cemetery in East Lyme, Connecticut.<br />

Services will be private. Donations may be made to: Marian Manor, 130 Dorchester<br />

St.,South Boston, MA 02127.<br />

Carolyn Sue <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

was born the daughter of Martha Hobbs and Charles Flake on July 2, 1950 in Memphis<br />

Tennessee and departed this life August 30, 2012 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield,<br />

Missouri at the age of 62 years. She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Wilkins,<br />

Heather Green, and Jenny Wesneski; five grandchildren; one sister, Linda Favrock; five<br />

nieces and nephews; thirteen grandnieces and nephews; several other relatives and many<br />

firends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Deborah Flake, who<br />

passed away only a few days before Carolyn. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm<br />

Saturday September 15, 2012 at the Carter Funeral Home in Thayer Missouri<br />

Mrs. Carrie B. <strong>Gunn</strong> aged 35 years died at a private sanitarium at 2 o’clock Thursday<br />

morning. The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart church this morning at 9 o’clock. Rev.<br />

Father <strong>Gunn</strong>, officiating. Interment will be in West View. Atlanta Constitution, January 7,<br />

1911.<br />

died on May 23, 2012. Service is on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Perry<br />

Funeral Home, 34 Mercer St., <strong>New</strong>ark, N.J. Viewing is on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from<br />

6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is in Fairmount Cemetery, <strong>New</strong>ark, N.J.<br />
