Eddie Dale <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

EAST BEND - Eddie Dale <strong>Gunn</strong>, 55, passed away Jan. 24, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center<br />

in Winston-Salem, N.C. after a long illness. He was born Feb. 12, 1955, in Gaston County,<br />

to the late Oscar & Viola <strong>Gunn</strong>. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by<br />

brothers Lewis & Orville <strong>Gunn</strong>; sisters, Shirley & Suzie <strong>Gunn</strong>. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> is survived by<br />

his devoted wife Debbie <strong>Gunn</strong>; daughter Maria (Greg) Phillips; Grandchildren Gabrielle<br />

& Gavin Phillips; Mother-in-law Vio-let Gester; sister-in-law Carol Arrowood; Sisters<br />

Havis Hale & Linda Beckham; Brothers Charles K., Bobby, Roy, Billy, David & Donnie<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> all of Gastonia, NC. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist<br />

Church 1102 W. Walnut Ave., Gastonia, NC. Gentry Funeral Home is in charge of the<br />

arrangements.<br />

Eddie Moss <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

85, of Route 7, Reidsville, NC died in Annie Penn Memorial Hospital today at 4 a.m. after a<br />

critical illness of one day. He had been in decling health for several years. He was a native<br />

of Rockingham County, born near Wentworth, and was a son of the late Nathaniel<br />

Washington and Martha Dowell <strong>Gunn</strong>. He was a well-known farmer of the Mount Carmel<br />

Community. He was a member of Happy Home Congregational Church, having served as a<br />

deacon for many years and was an honorary deacon at the time of his death. <strong>Gunn</strong> and his<br />

wife, the former Ada Dixon, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary January 1.<br />

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Miss Clarice <strong>Gunn</strong> and Miss Ruth Helen <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

both of the home; two sons, Marvin L. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Asheville and Ed A. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Reidsille; four<br />

grandchildren, and one brother, Ernest <strong>Gunn</strong> of Deland, Fla. Funeral services will be held<br />

Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev.<br />

Weldon Madren and the Rev. O. C. Loy. Interment will be in the Mount Carmel Methodist<br />

Church cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for services.<br />

Edgar G. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

83, vice president of the Guaranty Trust Company died at his home in Tuckhoe<br />

Apartments Sunday morning after an illness of several weeks. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> who had been in<br />

the banking business for 25 years entered the lumber business with his father, James F.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, soon after he completed his education in private schools here. He later became the<br />

owner of his father’s business. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong>, active in civic affairs, was past president of the<br />

local chapter of Sons of the American Revolution and was a member of the Commonwealth<br />

Club for many years. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> and Miss Katherine Miller were married June 4, 1890,<br />

and for several years lived on South Third Street in one of the homes built on the former<br />

site of the old Gamble mansion. Later they lived at the Monroe Terrace Apartments and<br />

recently at the Tuckahoe Apartments. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> died last November. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> is<br />

survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald S. Leas of Haverford, Pa., and Mrs. Syndey E.<br />

Sharwood of Richmond; four granddaughters; Mrs. Curtis Dall, Miss Mary Stuart Leas,
