Biddle F. Gunn
November 21, 1928 - May 22, 2009 Biddle F. Gunn 80 of Janesville, Florida, died Friday,
May 22, 2009, at Cedar Crest, Janesville. Born on Nov. 21, 1928, Biddle was the fourth
child born to Biddle and Esther (Campion) Gunn. He was a lifelong member of St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church. He attended Bass Creek School in the Town of Rock. Biddle
graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1946. He then farmed with his
father and brothers at the Gunn farm on O’Leary Road. In 1954, Biddle entered the Army
and was stationed in Hawaii. In 1956 he was honorably discharged, and he returned home
to begin work at the General Motors plant. Biddle married Rosemary Margaret Hannon
on March 2, 1957, in Baraboo, WI. He and Rosie were devoted to each other, and together
created a beautiful life. They were blessed with two children, Mark and Maureen. Three
from GM in 1986, and he and Rosie enjoyed nearly twenty years of wintering in Florida.
Biddle enjoyed his work at the GM plant, but his first love was always the family farm. He
helped his brother’s farm and later played a major part in the development of his son’s
farming operation as they worked side by side until Biddle’s health declined. One step
ahead of everyone else, Biddle believed the only way to do a job was to do it now and do it
completely. Many family members’ lives were made better due to Biddle’s giving and
generous spirit. In addition to his two children, Biddle was blessed with the arrival of each
of his six grandchildren. Many memories were created by the countless hours each of the
grandchildren spent at Grandma and Grandpa Gunn’s. He followed their many activities
including the state basketball tournament, the Rock County 4-H Fair livestock shows, and
“assisting” the kids at their sweet corn stand on West Court Street. The holidays were a
favorite time of Biddle’s when he would greet the grandchildren at the door with a smile
and a welcome that they each will always treasure. Biddle is survived by his beloved wife of
